Mrs. Virginia Crocker Satterfield
Dies in Wreck Yesterday Afternoon
for treatment

Mrs. Virginia Crocker Satterfield, was killed yesterday after
noon about 4 o’clock in a two-oar collusion at a street intersection at
Providence school in the Lydia Mills community. She was pro
nounced dead upon arrival at Blalock clinic, where she was taken
immediately after the accident. ' ' -

Metal drivers licenses will be
made available to South Carolina
drivers at the earliest possible
date if a bill now before the
j House of Representatives is ap
proved, Chief Highway Commis
sioner Claude R. McMillan said.
The metal license bill was pass
ed, m an amended form, by the
! Senate several years ago. It has
|,now been returned to the House
! for final approval
Mr McMillan pointed out it
| will be necessary for the High-
! w ay Department to receive bids
I on machinery and metal to pro
duce the licenses, but that this
process will be expedited as
much as possible so that the
metal licenses can lx* made avail
able with the least possible de
lay.
Persons who have already ob-
tained paper licenses, when the
metal licenses become available
will be able to exchange paper li
censes for metal by paying the
difference in fees. Mr. McMillan
said. This will permit, persons
desiring metal Licenses to get
them even though they have pre
viously obtained paper ones

The kickoff banquet for the
Cancer Crusade will be held at
the Mary Musgrove Hotel Thurs
day evening. April 4. at 7 30.

chairman of the Cancer drive and
Mrs. Sarah DeLoache, command

The month of Apnl has been
declared by. the president as the
month the cancer drive wull be

Hassell Lucas Dies
In Columbia Hospital ^
Hassell Lucas, 7T, died Friday
morning at a Columbia hospital
after several years of declining
health. ■/ .
He was a native of Lee county
but made his home in Columbia
for a number of years before
moving to Clniton in 1951. He
was a son of the late William
and Emma Sanders Lucas. He
was a member of the Baptist
church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Essie Lucas, of near Laurens; and
a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conduct-
fed Sunday at 3:00 p. m. at Gray
Funeral Home by the Rev. Har
old itanley and the Rev. J. W.
Spillers. Burial was in Rosemont
cemetery.
