Are Entertained Mrs. Rufus Sadler entertained the Wednesday bridge club and 1 additional guests the past week. ■ Tables for the games were ar ranged in the receiving rooms of the home which were attractive with berries, greenery and tapers. Following the progressions awards were presented Mrs. Marion Mi lam and Mrs. Reese Young. Late in the afternoon the host ess served a salad plate and des sert. Mrs. Dixon Is Joint Hostesses For Bridge Party Mrs. L. ^H. Lei', Jr., and Mrs. Bailey Dixon jointly entertained friends for five tables of bridge on Friday afternoon at the Lee home. As a setting for the table vari- oolored chrysanthomums and mag nolia leaves were arrahged in the card rooms. Score prizes # for the afternoon’s progressions went to Mrs. R. M. Turner and Mrs. Caldwell Hen derson, Mrs. W:'P. Jacobs. Ill, kept floating prize.. Late in the afternoon the hos tesses served a .salad and sweet course. < Lutheran Women Are Entertained The United Lutheran Church Women met Monday evening at the home pf Mrs. O. C. Woodruff, w ith Mrs. W. -M. Purdue, assist ant hostess. Mrs. F. M. Boland led an in teresting, program on “Christ mas Tonight,” with a number of the members participating. During the social hour the host esses served cake, nuts and ptinch. The Christmas theme was ef fectively carried out in the dec orations of greenery, wreaths and ornaments. Enjoyable Holiday Drop-In Given On Saturday evening, Mrs. R. J. Pitts entertained with a lovely “drop-in” at her hmoe on E. Car olina avenue. The entertainirig rooms were artistically decorated with smilax, greijnef-w Centering the dining room table was an ob long arrangement of nandina ber ries. mistletoe, interspersed with red tapers. Assorted gaudies, nuts, sand wiches, and cookies were served with eggnog and coffee. Assisting in entertaining were Misses Sara and Jackie Pitts. Agnes Davis, Mrs. James Pitts and Mrs. H. J. Pitts. Out of town guests were her brother and his wife, Mr. and brother and his wife, Mr. and George .Bultman of Sumter m % Entertaining members of her club and several additional guests Mrs. jBailey Dixon was hostess for three tables, of bridge on Thurs day afternoon at her home on Hickory Street. A miniature pink and blue Christmas tree Was displayed and other decorations included a large white candle with evergreens and blue and silver arrangements. Mrs. Edward Ferguson, a vis itor won high score prize and sec ond high went to Mrs. Robert Vance. Later a-salad course was enjoyed. Society, Circles Have Joint Meet The December meeting of the Woman's Society of Christian Service and circlbs of Broad Street Methodist church was held jointly on Monday after noon at the church. 1 Mrs. Roy Gasque was leader for the program which opened by the society repeating in unison the Shephl'rd Story from Luke. Mrs. Gasque read a beautiful Christ- j mas story and carols were sung I by a quartet composed, of Mrs. J. A. Simmons, Misses Sara Pitts, Joyce and Barbara Sim mons. ‘ .This service* was-closed with prayer. Mrs. Howard Smith, president, presided over the business ses sion. - Later the group was invited into the dining room for refresh ments served by the hostesses, Mrs. Lonnie Hiers, Mrs Frank Ramage, Mrs. Gasque, and Mrs. Bluford Copeland. At Milam Home' 1 Monday evening Mrs. W. C. Milam, Mrs. James Buzhardt. Mrs. t-C. H. Later Santa arrived and ipresented gifts to the members. Cub Scouts Have Christmas Event The Cub Scout Pack 21 had their Christmas party last Wed nesday evening at the American Legion building. The parents joined the Cubs in the festivities. Mrs. I. .Mac Adair was chair man of the program. She was assisted by Mrs. B. F. Wingard, Mrs. D. S. Templeton, Mrs. J. A.
