Edmunds of St. Louis, Mo., after a visit to her > parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Hen ry, left Tuesday -for the Green brier at White Sulphur Springs, W. Va., where Mr. Edmunds wil[ attend a meeting of the Equitable Insurance Co. Jane Tinkjer of Clitfside, N. C., is visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Knox and cousin, Linda Knox. Friends of litle Bobby Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Lee, will be interested to know he has return ed to his home here after spend ing the past five and a half months at the Shriners hospital in Greenville. Bobby will return to the hospital in July for a check-up. Rev. and Mrs. J. E. Merchant will return tomorrow from Co- % lumbia where the former attend ed pastors school and the latter served as a counselor for the Young People’s Assembly at Co lumbia college. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Hellams and Mrs. A. C. Workman left Tuesday for a visit with Lt. and Mrs. R. B. Hellams, Jr., in Enid, Okla. While there they will attend the gradu ation of Lt. Hellams from the Multi-Engine Flight School at which time he will receive his wings. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Milam have returned to 1 their home in Lees burg, Fla., after spending a few days with relatives, having been called here because of the death of the former’s sister, Mrs. I. O. Ray. » Lt. Col. Arthur Katzburg, medical corps, Mrs. Katzburg and sons, Ricky and Steve, of Mobile, Ala., are spending the week with her sister, Mrs. Harry Baldwin, and Mr. Baldwin. Homer E. Cobb, a recent grad uate of Presbyterian college, has accepted a position as research chemist with Westinghouse in Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Cobb will join him soon in Baltimore. Friends of Jimmy Bass, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Bass, will be interested to know he has enlist ed for six months military train ing and is stationed at Fort Jack- son. He was a student at Pres byterian college the pest year. Mrs. W. C. Baldwin, Mrs. Frank Miller, Mrs. Julian Coleman, Mrs. Earl Workman, and Miss Agnes Davis left yesterday for a three weeks trip to the Canadian Rock ies. Enroute they will visit Den ver, Salt Lake City, Banff, Lake Louise' and Vancouver. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Graham and children of Bimingham, Ala., are guests for several days of the former’s sister, Mrs. M. D. Milam, and Mr. Milam. Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Reddeck and sons, Mike and Larry, are visit-/ ing relatives in Greensboro, N. M Stutts left today to spend several weeks in Raleigh and Fayetteville, N. C., and Char leston. Dickie Walters, who has been visiting his grandmother, will accompany her to Raleigh. Mr. and Mrs. J. Leland Young and family are spending this week at Crescent Beach. Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Milam, Jr., and daughters, Linda and Jane, and Mrs. Joe V. Edwards were in Charlotte, N. C., Saturday for the wedding of Mrs. Milam's and Mrs. Edwards’ sister. Miss Ruth Graham, to the Rev. Mr. Johmn Glenn, at the First Baptist church. Miss Linda Milam spent several days prior to the wedding in Charlotte and attended a num ber of parties. ,. Mrs. Paul T. Wood has return ed to her home here after spend ing some time in Charleston and Camden with her son, Dr. Paul A. Wood and family. Mr. and Mrs. Lew^s Pitts were recent guests of the Woods in Camden and she accompanied them home. Mrs. Bill'Sims is visiting her sister, Mrs. Furman Owens, in Piedmont. Mrs. Owens has been a hospital patient in Greenville. Mr. and Mrs. Harry McSween and children are spending two weeks in DeFuniak Springs, Fla., with the former’s mother, Mrs. J. C. McSween. Mr. and Mrs. Irby Hipp, Jr., and son, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Av ery and daughter, of Rock Hill, visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irby S. Hipp, during the week-end. Charlotte and Nancy Owens of Knoxville, Tenn., are visiting their grandmother, Mrs. William Bailey Owens, for two weeks. The latter has been spending sev eral weeks in Knoxville and the girls’ father accompanied them there on Saturday. F. Howard Smith attended the meeting of the South Carolina Pharmaceutical Associaton i n Charleston and has joined Mrs. Smith and children for a few days stay at Cherry Grove Beach. Mrs. Pringle Copeland, Sr., is spending some time during the week with her sister, Miss Helen Clayton, in Columbia. Miss Clay ton is a hospital patient there fol lowing an operation. Mrs. Robert McCrary and chil dren visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Lowe, in Greer dur ing 4he week-end. Mrs. James Von Hollen and son, Dirk, are on a month’s va cation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Griffin, in Huntington, W. Va. Mr. Von Hollen accom panied them to Huntington for the week-end. Miss Margaret Harris, member of the Mercer University faculty, Macon, Ga., is at home with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. John W: Harris, for the summer months. Mrs. Eugene Sheom and chil dren .of Camden, are visiting her mother, Mrs. C. H. McCrary, Sr., and other relatives here. Friends of Mrs. John A. Addi- sori will be interested to know she is recuperating at home after being a patient in a Greenville hospital the past week. > Miss Essie Davidson teacher in Great Falls is at home for summer months. Miss Patsy Macdonald was in York during the week-end to serve as an attendant in the wed ding of Miss Mary Hopkins Stall- worth on Saturday. She left dur ing the week for a stay at Mon- treat. — Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Jacobs left today to visit with their daugher, J Mrs. John William King and Mr. King in Summerville, Ga. Betsy King, who has been visiting here, returned to her home. Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs will also visit Dr. Thomwell Jacobs who is recuper ating at the home of his son in Atlanta following a hospital ill ness. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Davidson have moved into their recently completed home on Musgrove street. Barbara Salter is spending sev eral weeks in Savannah, Ga., with relatives. Her mother, Mrs. A. D. Salter, accompanied her there today and will return to morrow. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie McDaniel, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Henry visited Neil Adair in Johnson City, Tenn., on Sunday. Dr. and Mrs. Richard Syre and sons of Fremont, Neb., are visit ing Mrs. Syre’s sister, Mrs. Hu bert Boyd, and Mr. Boyd. Miss Nancy Jo Pruitt spent last week at Neptune Beach, Fla., with her sisters, Miss Rachel Pruitt and Mrs. Lou Oliver. Mrs. E. B. Ginsberg is spend ing several weeks ip New York. Their friends will be interested to know the McMasters and children/will leave July 1st for a trip throilgh Florida and will fly from Miami.to Nassau. Hornsby Leaves States For Okinawa Marine Sgt. William L. Horns by, son of Mr. and Mrs Lionel L. Hornsby of 205 Shands st, Clinton, departed May 16 for duty on Okinawa after comulet- ing 4 weeks of training in the staging regiment at the Marine corps base, Camp Pendleton, Cal. Blakely, of Laurenk county, was named vice-chair man of the South Carolina chap ter of the Soil Conservation So ciety of America at a meeting in Columbia last Wednesday. ,■ The program included enter tainment by Miss Phyllis O’Dell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B O'Dell, of Laurens, who gave a singing, tap and acrobatic danc ing performance. James P. Mundy Dies at Home James P Mundy, 59, died sud denly Thursday afternoon at his home in Laurens after several months of declining health. He was a native county where he spent most of his life. He was a son of the i late James (Jim) and Sallie Can- I non Mundy. He was a veteran of World War I and a member He is survived by several of the Lydia Mill Baptist church, niec-es and nephews. Funeral services were conduct ed ^Friday afternoon at 5 o’clock at Mt. Pleasant Baptist church near Laurens by the Rev. Stanley Hardee and the Rev J. B. Aber crombie. South Carolina's 1956 traffic death toll reached 275 as seven persons were killed and 150 in jured in 454 accidents, according to a state highway department report. This brings the 1956 toll to seven more than the total for the same period last year. Seven counties had one fatality each during the week. They are: Barnwell, Charleston, Kershaw, Lee, Marion, Newberry, and Or angeburg counties.
