WMU Met Monday The Woman’s Missionary Union of Calvary Baptist church met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Joe Campbell. Mrs. Louie Webb, program chairman, brought an interesting program on “Thy Word — A Lamp. A Light.’’ The program was closed with prayer. Men Enjoy Supper Saturday evening the Men’s Bible clas? of Calvary Baptist church enjoyed an outing at the home of R. T. Trammell. Turtle stew was served on the lawn. About twenty members and in vited guests enjoyed the occasion and Rufus Handback, teacher, urges all the elderly men to come and join them. Honored On Father's Day The family of R. T. Trammell gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Grady Smith in hon or of their father on Father’s Day. A bountiful picnic dinner was enjoyed and afterwards Mr. Trammell was presented gifts by the family on this happy occas ion. Land is the son of Mrs. Eva Land of this city. Dover Reunion The Dover reunion was held Sunday, June 17, at Mr. and Mrs. Earl Braswell’s cottage on Lake Greenwood. After dinner was served all en joyed playing in the Lake. The Horizon club of Clinton Mills re cently sponsored a hamburger party. Everyone passing the Community house that night, June 15, slowed down to watch the girls cook hamburgers over an open charcoal grill—a new addition to the Community rec reational equipment. It was a new experience—that was evi dent! Sometimes the grease caused the flames to soar, scar ing the cooks to death, but all agreed that the result was delish. 1 The club hopes to sponsor sev eral parties and trips this sum mer for the teens of the village. I shall use every effort to repeal this claim law as inserted by the Free Conference Committee of the House and Senate. As Senator, I will take the lead as Chairman of the Delegation in working for new industry for Laurens County. I will continue as I have during my legislative career to take care of our schools and school teachers. t. I helped to start the county hard-surface road program and I shall continue to help get every person a surfaced road by his home.
