Misses Alary Jane McLendon and Joanne Leach and Russell Trammell are among the seniors at Clinton high school spending the week in Washington, D. C., and other points of interest en route. Recently Mr. and Mrs. Walter Patterson and family, of near Clinton, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meadows and family, of Clinton, enjoyed a dinner art the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Mitchell hon oring Mr. H. S. Watson’s birthday. Lanon-Wilkes Rile* Miss Ann Thomas Larson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Godt- fred Larson, of Charleston, was married ' on Monday, March 12, 1956, to Rev. Eli Austin Wilkes, Jr., at five o’clock in the after noon in the St. Matthews Luth eran church in Charleston. ' The Rev. Augustus Hackmann, the bride’s pastor, and Rev. E. A. Wilkes, Sr., of Peker, father of the groom, officiated at the cere mony, in a lovely setting in the traditional white and green. The bride was lovely in her white lace waltz length gown with which she wore a fingertip veil. She carried a white Bible topped 'With white carnations. The bride was given in mar riage by her father. Miss Charlotte Rexroad, of Charleston, was the maid of honor and the bride’s only attendant. She was dressed in blue taffeta and carried a pink caraa- tion bouquet. Mr. Edward Richardson, of North Charleston, was best man. Following the ceremony a re ception was held, at the home of the bride’s parents. Mrs. Wilkes, Jr., was graduated from General William Moultrie high school and attended the Col lege of Charleston and Newberry college. The bridegroom is a graduate of Hemingway high school and Bre vard college. He also attended the University of S. C. and Emory uni versity. Rev. Wilkes is pastor of the Lydia and Sandy Springs Metho dist churches. v The young couple are now at home at 189 Cypress St., Lydia Mills. — : W. 8 JC. 8. To Give The W. S. C. S. of the Lydia Methodist church has planned a reception for Rev. E. A. Wilkes and his bride to be held Thursday evening at the Community House at 730 p. m. . Kindergarten Entertains Woman's Clnb I r v ^ The Lydia Woman’s club met for their regular monthly meeting at the Providence school cafeteria on the past Thursday. The meeting was called to ord er by the president, Mrs. Horace Smith. The program for the evening was given by the Lydia kinder garten children under the direc tion of Mrs. Joe Tharp. The children sang several songs and each one gave a recitation, all this was on the theme of Easter. Following the program refresh ments of punch and cookies were served by Mrs. Charles Gaffney and Mrs. Floyd Poole. Special guests of the club were the kindergarten mothers. G.
