J. Simpson. The matter is being investigat ed by the office of Sheriff W. A. Lowery. The sheriff said that some boxes were apparently blown up by fireworks, others riddled with rifle bullets -and several knocked down presum ably by cars or trucks. Mr. Simpson pointed out that the person or persons responsi ble for the acts is subject to fed eral prosecution and warned that stiff penalties can be imposed against those convicted • The postal inspection service has also been notified, he said, and indications are,that inspect ors may begin an investigation of their own soon.
