Macdonalds Entertain With Buffet Supper 'On Monday and Tuesday eve nings of this week Dr. and Mrs. James Macdonald entertained a number otf friends for supper and bridge at their new home on the Jacobs highway. Supper was served in buffet style from the dining table beau tifully appointed with bronze and yellow chrysanthemums compli mented by white tapers in silver candelabra The sideboard held a Thanksgiving fruit arrangement. Elsewhere in the receiving rooms white chrysanthemums and red roses were used in decoration. Following supper a number of progressions were made. Winners for the games on Monday evening were Mrs. Michael Turner and Hugh S. Jacobs. Housewarming For Mr. and Mrs. Pitts -Thursday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Pitts, who have recently moved into their new home on Musgrove extension, were given a surprise house warming About forty friends and rela tives gathered for the informa! oc casion and Mr. and Mrs. Pitts were presented a number of gifts for their home. During the evening sandwiches, cup cakes, punch and other party dainties were served by the hos tesses, Mrs. Marvin Turner, Mrs. L. S. Reddeck, Mrs. J. M. Hatton, Jr., and Miss Alliene Copeland. Mexican daisies in a brass container, vari-colored chrysan themums and sasanqua blossoms were prettily arranged in the living rooms. Mrs. Fred E. Holcombe, pres ident, presdied, and talked to the group about plans for the polio drive for funds which the organi zation is sponsoring. Mrs. Hol combe explained the uses of the money which is raised, and asked for volunteer workers to assist with the drive. The hostesses and assistant hostesses, Mrs. Wilmot Shealy, Mrs. G. A. Burton, Mrs. James C. Marshall, Mrs. L. O. Hiers and Miss Irene Hipp. served sand wiches, cookies and hot punch during the social hour. Dessert Bridge Given For Club Thursday afternoon members of her card club met at the home of Mrs. J. B. Arnold for a dessert bridge. Two tables were appointed for refreshments and a sweet course, coffee and nuts were served. Later several progressions were enjoyed with Mrs. T. C. John son, Jr., making top score. Marigolds shading from yel low to orange, with greenery were used in decoration for the card rooms. Are Guests At Laurens Party Mrs. James C. Marshall, Mrs. James E. Wolfe, Mrs. Thomas E. Baldwin and Mrs. Murphey Tim merman were guests yesterday afternoon at a party given by Mm. Fred Medlock at her home in Laurens The party was in honor of Mm. Robert Kilgore, sister-irt-law of Mm. Marshall, who is leaving soon to make her home in Jack sonville, Fla., where Mr. Kilgore has accepted a position with the Texas company. Johnson. Jr., Mrs. Robert M. Vance and Mrs , Bryan Coates. Floating prize* was | kept by Mm. C. C. Giles. Late in the afternoon the hos tesses served a salad plate and mince meat tarts.
