Friends of Jimmy Sloan, son of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Sloan, will rgeret to know he suffered a broken collar bone injury while playing Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gasque and family of Marion, were week end guests of the former's broth er and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gasque. George Alex Henry of Atlanta, Ge., spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Hen ry. Mrs. D. A Yarborough, Miss Dorothy Crawford and Mrs. Leila N. Johnson attended the Southeastern Regional conven tion of Business and Professional Women’s clubs in Charleston the past week-end. Mr. and Mrs. William Black- well are now occupying their new home on East Walnut street. Dr. and Mrs. Fred Holcombe and son, Joe, left Tuesday for Warm Springs, Ga., where the latter will receive treatment Mrs. E. T. Woodruff is spend ing several weeks in Williams burg, Va., with her daughter, Mrs. i* W. Rawl, and Mr. Raiwi. Friends of Jimmy Nichols, son of Mr and Mrs. C. E. Nichols, will be interested to know he has joined the air force and is receiv ing his basic training a tLack- land Air Force Base, San An tonio, Texas. Miss Peggy Mclnvaille of Winthrop College, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Mclnvaille. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Sharpe and small daughter will be interested to know they mov ed last week to Enoree where the former is employed. Underwood 1 and children, Charles, Jr., and Judy, were week-end guests of friends in Charleston. Lester Norton will return the latter part of the week after at tending cattle sales in Canada and Montgomery, Ala. Quinton Chapman of Charles ton, joined Mrs. Chapman here at the home of her mother, Mrs. J. H. Dorman, for the week-end and accompanied her home. Friends of Earl Stewart will be glad to know he is convalesc ing at home following an illness and hospital stay. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stutts of Charlotte, N. C., are spending the week with his mother, Mrs. F. M. Stutts while the former is here on business. Mrs. C. E. Nichols and daugh ter, Amelia, spent the week-end in Spartanburg with her sister, Mrs. Y. C. Ballenger, being call-, ed there due to the illness of Mr. Ballenger who is a hospital pa tient Mrs. T. C. Johnson, Jr., and Mrs. Cecil Wilson attended the Southeastern Florist convention in Atlanta, Ga., several days the past week. They were join ed there and accompanied home by Mr. Johnson and Mr. Wilson. Mrs. B. F. McCarty, of New berry, is visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mis. T. J. McCarty. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Watford, Jr., of Florence, spent the Iteek-end -with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mis. W. M. Burts. Also here for Sunday were their aon-in-law and dautfvter, Mr. and Mks. James Madison Pitts, of Sttverstreak. Bobby Gene Whitlock, who is in the Navy, has arrived from the West Coast to spend a leave at his home here. Mr. and Mrs. R. P. The second quarter was pack ed with action and excitement as Clinton registered four touch downs. The first was made by “Bootsie” Fuller, who plunged into the end zone from one yard out. The second was credited to Bill Sease vgho ripped off-tackle for a dazzling thirty-four-yard run to paydirt. The high-spirit ed Red Devils soon pushed across another tally, as a Sease to Cran ford pass netted seventy yards and another six-pointer. Late in the second quarter Cranford picked up a Wolverine fumble and galloped for a thirty-yard touchdown romp. Smith’s ac curate toe added all four extra points. Clinton led at halftime by a decisive 34-0 score. Midway of the third period. Bill Sease broke loose on a ninety-five-yard touchdown gal lop. Smith’s toe proved accur ate again, as he added tyjs fifth extra point. Inman threatened in both the third and fourth quarters, get ting inside Clinton's five-yard line twice; but the Red Devils’ strong forward wall held fast. State Employees Banquet Here A banquet for South Carolina state employees of the Laurens County Unit wild be held here on Tuesday evening, November 1, at 7:30 at the American Legion borne. The group meets semi-annualiy and tills is the regular fall meet ing. Over a hundred are expected to attend the occasion for which Senator Ralph Wilson, of Laur ens, wil' be the guest speaker.
