The new president of Coker, Dr. Bar ry, will be present and address the group. W. K. Waits spent Monday and Tuesday in Greensboro, N. C., at tending the regional meeting of the Infantile Paralysis organi zation. Mr. Waits was one of the three represenatitives from Lau rens county to attend this meet ing. Conrcetion On Mission Study The third session of the mis sion study, “The American In dians,” was published last week to be held on Tuesday, Oct. 25. This is an error on the part of the correspondent. The third session will be held October 27 at the home of Mrs. L. J. Brock, and the fourth session will be on November 1 at the home of Mrs. Claude Franks. The study is being sponsored by the Woman’s Society of Christian Service and the church membership is invit ed to attend. Sympathy Extended Deepest sympathy is extended to Mrs. Carrie Jacks in the pass ing of her sister, Mrs. Cole Blease, Sr., of Clinton, last Fri day night. Funeral servics were conducted at Calvary Baptist church and burial was in Rose- mont cemetery on Sunday. Fidelia Class Meets The Fidelis class of Joanna Baptist .church met last Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Charles Cleveland on the Lau rens road. The devotional was givne by Mrs. Mozelle Atkins, president. During the business hour the necessary plans were m&de and discussions held. Mrs. Lewis Thompson led a round of Hallowe’en games and stunts at the social hour. Mrs. Cleveland served ice cream, cookies and punch. Friends of Mrs. Annie Laurie Simpson will regret to learn she suffered a broken arm last Tues day and was hospitalized for several days at Joanna hospital. J. M. Lever was a patient at the local hospital for treatment several days last week. Colie Campbell was dismissed from Joanna hospital on Oct. 17 following treatment. Miss Betty Thomas was admit ted to Joanna hospital on Mon day for treatment. Herbert Owens is a patient in the General hospital in Green ville for treatment. Group Enjoys Record Party Miss Sandra Salters and Miss Jean Russell were co-hostesses to a group of young people at the home of the latter on Browning avenue Saturday night. Popu lar records were played and games enjoyed. Mrs. Delia Russell, assisted by her son, Harold, served hot dogs, soft drinks and small frosted cakes. Out of town guests were De- lora Lydie, Terry Campbell and Jimmy Barker fo Clinton. Brownios Enjoy Party A group of Brownie Scouts, with Mrs. Lester Longshore asi leader, motored to Clinton by Foundation bus, with Edward Thomas as driver, last Wednes day afternoon. They attended a party held at the home of Mrs. James Knight, assistant Brownie leader. Mrs. Knight, who re turned from a stay in Japan about a year ago, showed sev eral reels of colored film taken in Japan. Afterwards games and refreshments of brownies and cold drinks were enjoyed on the back lawn. Prior to the farewells of the party L. Ray Atwell of Ander son, Ind., a representatives of the Children’s Bible Society of America, and a close relative of Mrs. Knight, presented each Brwonie with a Bible.
