Collins and family of Charlotte, N. C., were guests last week of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Milakn. Miss Maude Wells is spending the week in Washington, D. C., with her sisters. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Blakely will leave today for Washington to visit their son. Dr. Lee Blakely, who is interning at Walter Reed hospital. Mr. and Mrs. John A. Davis are spending a few days vacation at Myrtle Beach. Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Grant spent the week-end in Waxhaw, N. C., with the latter’s mother, Mrs. George Steele. Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. John son are visiting the foitner’s relat'ves in Milwaukee, Wis. Miss Jinny Payne will have as her week-end guest Misses Linda Brame of North Wilkesboro, N. C., Martha Wheeler of Memphis, Tenn. On Sunday they will leave to spend the coming week at Myrtle Beach on a house party with other classmates from Sal em Academy. Mrs. Julian Coleman and Mrs. Laura Anderson of Greenwood, and other relatives are spending several days at the Coleman cot tage at Lake Lanier, Tryon, N. C. Miss Anne Owens of Columbia, will arrive tomorrow to spend the week-end at her home here. Major Newton B. Jones, Major William P. Jacobs, 3rd, and Lt. L. H. Lee are spending two weeks in training with a reserve unit at Fort Jackson. Mrs. R. L. Lockett of Daytona Beach, Fla., who is the guest of joined here by her son, R. L. Lockett, and family fbr a several days trip to Gatlinburg and points of interest in the Great Smokies. Captain L. C. McCarthy join ed Mrs. McCarthy and children here during the week-end and they left Monday for a visit with his parents at Albany, N. Y., af ter which they will return to Shreveport, La., where he is sta tioned. Dr. and Mrs. Marshall W. Brown are spending the week at Garden City. On Sunday Dr. Brown was guest minister at the Park Central Presbyterian church in Charleston. M-Sgt. and Mrs. Wayne O. Wood and children have return ed from Ottawa, Kansas, where they were called because of the illness and death of the latter’s father, W. J. Harkins. Mrs. Walter West and daughter Tenn., Sherry Lynn of Knoxville,* and Miss Linda Mclnvaille of Kershaw, are spending several days with Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Mclnvaille. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Thomas, ac companied by Mr. and Mrs. Wil bur Riddell of Laurens, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Fennell of Newberry, will leave Saturday for a trip to New York. Mrs. J. B. Wilder with Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Bazemore and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Dillard of Jacksonville, Fla., who are visit ing here, were guests of friends at Boone and Blowing Rock, N. C., Monday. Friends of J. D. Vaughn, Jr., and daughters, Cathy and Susan, of Aberdeen, Md., are spending two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L Bluford Copeland here. Mrs. A. B. Galloway, who has been spending two weeks With her sons, C. E. Galloway, J. A. Galloway and their families, will return Sunday to her home in Trenton. Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Bagwell spent last week vacationing in Florida. While away they were guests several days of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Addy in Lakeland, and visited Silver Springs, St. Augustine and Daytona Beach. Mrs. N. E. Hill, accompanied by Mr. and. Mrs. Cecil Lankford and daughter of Whitmire, visit ed Mrs. Hills’ brother, N. W. Medlock, and Mrs. Med lock in Brooklet, Ga. .last week. Sarah Sadler returned Monday by plane from New York where she has been visiting her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Doherty. Miss Eloise Marshall is spend ing the week in Wadesboro, N. C., with her grandmother, Mrs. W. L. Marshall, Sr. Her mother accompanied her to Wadesboro on Sunday. Richard Lukstat has joined his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Luk stat, in Clifton, N. J., and they will leave this week for a trip to Canada. Mr. And Mrs. Roddy To Operate Motel In St. Petersburg ♦ Mr. and Mrs. Phil Roddy will leave Clinton Tuesday to assume the management of a 30-unit motel at St. Petersburg, Fla., they stat ed this week. They will be ac companied by their children, Phil, Jr., and Dianne. Mr. and Mrs. Roddy have leased the Marlin Apartment Motel, sit uated on the beach at St. Peters burg, which, from photographs, appears to be a “super-dooper” establishment. The Roddy* state they are leav ing Clinton only temporarily and will continue to own their res taurant and motel here, which will be under the management of Mr. Roddy’s brother, Don, who is al ready here, and who has assisted his brother here at various times in the operation of the local busi ness. Attend Fraternity Convention In Colifornio Kenneth N. Beker and son, Ken neth, Jr., will leave Monday to at tend Kappa Alpha Order national convention in San Francisco, Calif. Mr. Baker, who is a member of the Presbyterian college faculty, has recently been appointed Prov ince Commander of Graves Prov ince succeeding Dr. Frank C. Owens, of Columbia. They plan to be away about three weeks visiting points of in terest en route. MOVE TO GASTONIA Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Thomas and daughter, Joy, will be interested to know they will move soon to Gastonia, N. C., to make their home. Mr. Thomas, who has been con nected with Clinton Paper Box company since its opening here five years ago, has accepted a po sition and begun his work with Hinde-Dausch Paper Box company in Gastonia. Mrs. Thomas and daughter will join him in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Galloway and daughter, Gerry, spent sev eral days last week at Edisto Beach, joining Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Crocker, Miss Elaine Crocker and Miss Shirleen Tucker of Jo anna there. Also visiting the Crcokers during the week’s stay were Mr. and Mrs. Claude Claude Crocker and daughter, Ginger, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Crocker. Misses Sandra and Emily Da vis, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. William Davis, have returned from a several weeks visit with their aunt, Mrs. Douglas Wake field, in Iva. Candy and Dougie Campbell of Miami, Fla., are visiting their aunt, Mrs. James F. Ellison, and Mr. Ellison. Dougie and Ricky Ellison are spending this week in Anderson with their grandmoth er, Mrs. A. H. Campbell. The coming week Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Campbell will join their children here for a visit and accompany them home. Mrs. W. B. Lea returned yes terday to her home in Rocky Mount, N. C., afte ra visit with her mother, Mrs. C. M. Bailey, and sister, Mrs. W. L. Marshall, Jr. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rooney and son. Bill, will be in terested to know they moved yesterday to Hartsville where they will make their home.
