Lark, and a member of Troop 90 of the Boy Scouts of America, left Sunday with a group of scouts of the Blue Ridge Council for a three-weeks trip to the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Terrell of Travelers Rest, spent the past week with their daughter, Mrs. Fred Dickerson, and Mr. Dicker- son. Charles Kitchens and children of Lyman, were recent Saturday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kitchens. Mr. and Mrs. James R. Parris and sons of Enoree, visited the former’s brother-in-law and sis ter, Mr. and Mrs Herman Phipps Saturday. , Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Johnson and family of Spartanburg, vis ited Sunday with their niece, Mrs. J. C. Gregory and Mr. Greg ory. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Roach and Steve of Seneca, were guests of the Gregorys during the week end. Mias Ethel Grace of Pineville, N. C., is visiting her aunt, Mrs. W. I. Bailey for a few days. Miss Patsy Fuller is visiting Miss Betty Livingston in Po- maria. While there she will go to Oconee state park. Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Williams visited Mr. and Mrs. Sam Beas ley in Piedmont Saturday. Mrs. Williams’ mother, Mrs. W. W. Ball of Hendersonville, N. C., was also visiting the Beasleys. Glad to see Adger Crawford, Jr., back at work after an illness. Misses Marion and Peggy Bal lard of Whitten Village, spent Sunday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Ballard. Marion's birthday was Saturday so the Ballard family honored her with 4 a birthday dinner. Mrs. Bessie Brown is spending the week with her son-in-law , and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jim ' Turner in Columbia. Mr. and Mrs. Ike Jones and Mrs. Bill Falls spent a few days with relatives in Johnson City, Tenn., this week. "■ Mr. and Sirs. Lloyd White and Mr. and Mrs. Jack White and daughters, Miss Beatrice White accompanied Miss Patsy White to her home in Gaffney after she had spent the past week here. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Emory and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Johnson visited the former’s mother, Mrs. Guy Emory, Sr., recently. Mrs. Emory is a patient in the Spar tanburg General hospital. Lewis Motte of Savannah, Ga., and Melvin Motte of Greenville, visited their uncle, J. W. Motte, and Mrs. Motte on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wehunt, Mrs. J.*C. Estes and Linda visit ed Mrs. Datie Estes in Woodruff Sunday. Mr. nad Mrs. Jack Johnson of Easley, visited Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Johnson Sunday. Bill John son of Columbiana, Ala., visited his brother on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gaffney and Mack spent Sunday with her mother, Mrs. L. W. Braggin Greenville. H. S. Watson of Columbus, Miss., is spending some time with his daughter, Mrs. E. W. Mitchell. Mrs. Mary Martin and children of West Clinton, spent Sunday with the Daltdns. James McLendon is spending a few weeks with his grandmother, Mrs. M. S. Spoone, in Mt. Ver non, Ga. Nancy Harper has returned to her home in Greenville after sev eral days visit with her cousin. Linda Corley. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Corley and Rickie visited Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Fowler in Greenwood Sunday. Mr .and Mrs. Grover Taylor and family of Rock Hill, were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Motte. Mrs. R. C..Gatlney and daugh ter of Whitmire, were recent visitors of their son and broth er, Charles Gaffney, and Mrs. Gaffney. Mrs. Sam Hairston is a patient at Blalock clinic. Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Parrish, Jr., of Aiken, spent the week-end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Parrish, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Williams. Their daughter, Carol, returned home with them following two weeks here. Also Miss Betty Lou Parrish went home with them for a visit. To Be On TV The Blue Birds and Camp Fire girls are reminded to be at the Community building at 2:00 p. m., Friday to go to Greenville to the Kid’s Korrall program on WFBC-TV. All registered girls and lead ers are invited to go and take a lunch for a picnic before return ing home. Teachers and Officers Meet The monthly teachers and offi cers meeting was held .Monday evening at the Lydia Baptist church, with Mrs. A. M. Shu mate, Jr., Sunday school super intendent, presiding. ✓ All were urged by Mr. Shu mate and Charles Patterson to visit their absentees and invite them to attend church. A covered dish supper was planned for the August meeting which will be held August 20 at the church. Each teacher and officer will be notified what to bring. ■ -♦ Reunion Be Held Sunday The Griffin reunion will be held Sunday, July 31, at Green wood state park. Honor Daughter With Party Miss Ruth Trammell, who was celebrating her 16th birthday, was honored with a party Satur day evening by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trammell, at their home. - During the evening games and contests were enjoyed. Summer flowers in varied col ors were used for decoration in the living room and den. After the games the guests were invited into the dining room, lighted by candles, where the colors pink, green and yellow were carried out in the decora tions, and the party refreshments which were served buffet style from the lace covered table. Mrs. E. C. Burdette assisted in entertaining. Carey Smith of near Laurens, and Jimmy Teague of Whitmire, were out of town guests. Ruth was presented many gifts. Birthdays and Anniversaries Rev. J. B. Abercrmobie, Rev. Stanley Hardee, Jr., and Miss Janice Goss will celebrate their birthdays July 30. Harold Hairston will have a birthday August 3. Elaine Harvey will be 12 years old August 1. Jim Dean will celebrate his birthday August 3. Happy birthday to Butch Kitchens on his 9th birthday. Ginger McCauley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James McCauley, will be one year old August 1. M rs. Fannie B. Casey Passes Mrs. Fannie Braswell Casey, 63, of 114 Marion St., Laurens, died at noon July 20 at the Lau rens county hospital following a critical illness of seven weeks. Mrs. Casey was a native , of Wadesboro, N. C., a daughter of the late Tom and Janie Carpen ter Braswell. She had lived most of her life in Laurens where she was a member of the Second Baptsit church. Surviving are three sons, Fred and Homer, both of Laurens; and Russell, Clinton; two daughters, Mrs. A. J. Satterfield, Clinton; and Mrs. E. B. Sims, Laurens; two brothers, Mai and Cal, both of Rock Hill; one sister, Mrs. Mamie Hall, Gray Court; 13 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. Funeral services were conduct ed Friday afternoon at Kennedy Mortuary by the Rev. Grange Cohtran and the Rev. James Wil liams. Burial was in Trinity Methodist church cemetery af Cross Anchor.
