J., have arrived for a several weeks visit with the for mer’s brother, A. B. Jacks and other relatives. Miss Alyce Jacks who has been spending some time here will accompany them home. Mr. and Mn. Herbert Betsill and daughter, Rosemary, of Char leston, were guests during the week of their aunt, Mrs. N. B. Glenn, and cousin, Bill Glenn, en route to the mountains of North Carolina. Mr. and Mrs. B. 6. Pinson leave today for Albemarle, N. C., where they will be week-end guests of relatives. Dr. and Mrs. J. S. Bozard of Columbus, Miss., Mr. and Mn. Rutldege Adair of Rock Hill, spent several days last week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. H .D. Henry. Dr. and Mn. W. Frank Caston and son, Frank, Jr, are vacation ing this week at the Isle of Palms. Mrs. E. B. Ginsberg has return ed from a trip to Princeton, N. J., and New York. Dr. and Mn. Newton Jones will leave Sunday for a week's stay at Myrtle Beach. They will !be joined there by the latter’s sister, Mrs. Philip Cordes, Mr. Cordes and children of Atlanta. Mrs. L. C. Singley spent the week-and in Columbia as 'the guest of* her cousin, Mrs. J. H. Horn. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Sowers are spending a two weeks vaca tion at their cottage at Bat Cave, N. C. Robert Powell has accepted a position with the -Uniorr’Times in Union. Mrs. J. B. Nicholson left yes terday to spend a month at. Deer Lodge, Montana with her daughter, Mrs. Harry Alger and Mr. Alger. Mrs. J. T. Ellison, Mrs. Ola Sanders, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Car- ley visited their daughter and niece, Mrs. Harold Rosenburg, and Mr. Rosenburg in Newport News, Va., also Colonial Wil liamsburg nad other points of in terest in Virginia last week. Mrs. O. C. Woodruff has ac cepted a position in the office at Whitten Village. Mrs. J. B. Parrott of Bishop- ville, was the guest several days last week of Mrs. R. C. Adair and other friends. Mrs. Margaret P. Fouche of Newberry, also visited friends and relatives here during the week. Mrs. R. H. Brown, accompan ied by Mrs. Mary Ann Hembree of Laurens, will leave Sunday for a vacation stay at Crescent Beach. The following boys left Mon day for a two weeks stay at Camp Cherokee, the YMCA camp at Kings Mountain, N. C.; Jimmy Sloan, Tommy Copeland, Milton Moore, Billy Chisholm. They were joined in Rock Hill by Sadler Poe, Tommy’s cousin. Mrs. R. C. Adair, Jr., and chil dren spent last week in Great Falls with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Ferguson. Dr. and Mrs. M. A. Macdonald and daughter, Miss Patsy Mac donald, have returned from a va cation trip. They attended the International Kiwanis meeting in Cleveland. Ohio, after which they visited Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia, Canada. Mrs. R. B. Smith of Dillon, spent several days this week with her son and daughter-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Smith Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Milam and daughter, Kathy, of New York, are spending the week here with the former’s mother, Mrs. J. W. Milam, and other rleatives. Mr Milam is also spending several days in Kings Mountain, N. C on business. Mrs. M. A Masdonald and daughter, Miss Patsy Macdonald, have gone to their cottage at Montreat, N. C., for the remain der of the summer. Dr. Macdon ald will join them there for few days during their stay. Mrs. F. F. Hicks, accompanied by Mrs. John Matthew Smith of Decatur, Ga., left Tuesday for a trip to Canada. Enroute they will visit in Monroe and Raleigh, N. C., being joined by another friend in Raleigh for the trip. Mrs. W. B. Chandler of Sum- merton, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Ralph MoCaakill. Miss Martha Ann McComb of Orange burg, is also a guest of the Mc- Caskills. Mrs. Locke Simon and daugh ter, Mary Locke, of Asheville, N. C., are spending the week with Mrs. George W. Bailey. Mrs. H. C. Layton is spending several weeks in Montreat, N. C., with her sister, Mrs. R. O. Ward of Kings tree. Mr. Layton joined them there for the week-end. Mrs. Bessie E. Godfhey is spending a few days with her son and da ugh tar-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ansel B. Godfrey. Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Asbill of Raleigh, N. C., accompanied her here for the day on Tuesday. Major Alfred Browning of Travis Air Force Base, Sacra mento, Calif., is spending the week with his aunt, Mrs. W. A. Dicus. Major Browning has been at Maxwell Field, Ala., for spec ial training. Also guests of the Dicus famliy on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Piper and fam ily of Greenville; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Taylor and family of Green wood. Sara Ray and Rachel Ann Wil son have returned from a two weeks stay at Camp Burgess Glen. Mr. and Mrs. Jack W. Ander son joined Mr. and Mrs. Joe Simpaon of Whitmire in Fon tana, N. C., for the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Holmes Holland and children visited in Brevard. N. C., recently. Mr. and Mrs. Dillard Milam, Jr., and children are vacationing this week at Pawley’s Island. Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Tankersley spent the week-end at Ocean Drive Beach. Mrs. W. D. Adair has accepted a position in the office at Hays hospital. Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Reece, Jr., and sons. Buck and Bob, have moved into their recently com pleted home on South Adair St. Julie Bolkk has returned from a month’s stay in Houston, Tex as, with her uncle and aunt. Dr. and Mrs. William H. Moorhead, having made the trip by plane. James Austin Chandler of At lanta, Ga., spent the week-end with his mother, Mrs. J. A. Chandler. They had as their dinner guests on Saturday eve ning Misses Ophelia Hays, Lyn Rogers, and Bebe Bennett, Ver non Coward and Jack Rogers, all of Atlanta. Miss Joan jonnson left Tues day to attend three weeks sum mer school at Winthrop college, Rock Hill. Mr. and Mrs. Julian Bolick and duaghters, Misses Margaret Ann, Julie and Dixie Bolick, Mrs. A. K. Dill and Miss Emily Bailey will leave Saturday for a sev eral weeks stay at their recently completed cottage at Pawley’s Mrs. Lila C. Stewart has re turned from a several months stay at Malverne, Long Island, N. Y„ with her son, Edwin Stewart, and family. While away she also viaitad Niagara Falls, N. Y., and the New England states. The Stewarts accompanied her hotnf and spent Sunday here enroute to Macon, Ga., on a business trip. Mrs. A. W. Hanley of Tampa, Fla., visited her brother, John A. Addison and other relatives here during the week enruote to the mountains. Lee And Burdette At Game Wordens' Clinic At Clemson The fourth annual game ward ens’ clinic of the Wildlife Resourc es Department was held at Clem son college Ju^y 10-13 with around 100 wardens attending sessions on law enforcement, management problems, public relations, water- fowl identification and proper field procedures. Attending from Laurens county were: Game Wardens S. A. Lee and L. V. Burdette. John B. Holland Dies Near Here After Long Illness John Bluford Holland, 50, died early Saturday morning at his home in the Langston church community near Clinton follow ing several years of declining health and a critical illness of two months. A native of Laurens county where he spent his entire life, Mr. Holland was a son of Reese L. and Janie Clark Holland. He was a member of Langston Bap tist church where he was a dea con. He had operated his fath er’s farm for years. Surviving besides his parents are his wife, Mrs. Agnes Murphy Holland; two sons, Johnny and David Holland; two daughters, Misses Ruth and Mary Holland, all of the home; one sister. Miss Tee Holland, of the home. Funeral services were conduct ed Sunday at 3:00 p. m. at Lang ston Baptist church by the Rev. Carl Bishop and the Rev. Mason Poole. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Mack Don- nan, Joe and Ellie Poole, Claude Madden, Landon and Bryan Hol land. The honorary escort consisted of Bryan Goodwin, T. B. Sumer- el, Fincher Davis, Sam Comp ton, McLeese Cunningham, Cecil Wilson, Dr. J. W. Davis, Dr. D. O. Rhame, Ralph N. Blakely, John Holtzclaw, William Robinson, Robert Elmore, Joe Nelson and C. D.
