When the guests arrived a dessert was served and later bride’s bingo was played. Dur ing the evening the honoree was presented the shower of gifts. C., entertained with a lovely luncheon at the home of the former Saturday at noon. Mixed summer flowers, includ ing snapdragons, roses and green ery were used throughout the spa- nious home. Miss Darr was presented a gift by the hostesses. Linen Shower For Miss Moore Wednesday afternoon of the past week Mrs. Guy A. Tumblin honored hn«M l < aquita Moore, who will be married Sunday af ternoon to James Holland. The party waa given at the new home of the hostess near t&e city and she received her guests in the den. Here day lilies were used in decoration. A salad course, assorted party dainties, punch and cup cakas were served buffet in the dining room. The table which held a lace cover over pink was center ed with pink roses, larkspur and tinted Queen Anne’s lace. This arrangement was complimented by pink tapers in silver hold ers. Small tables laid for the guests in the living room were adorned with single pink mag- nloias. A mantel arrangement of pink and white magnolias with foliage was also used. The bride’elect’s place was marked with a miniature bride dolL Lat er bride's binge was enjoyed, and the honoree was presented a shower of linen gifts. Miss Marie Wier assisted the hostess in entertaining and serv ing. 4 table was a low arrangement of madonna lilies and feverfew. The small tables appointed for the guests were centered with silver bud vases filled with fe verfew. Summer flowers were used in decoration elsewhere in the receiving rooms. The hostess’ mother, Mrs. J. Karl Johnson, Mrs. Austin Chandler, and Miss Jamie Little assisted in the courtesies of en tertaining. Miss Darr was pre sented * a corsage and a gift of crystal. Miss Trotti Pruitt, bride- elect of Joe Holland, was a guest and was remembered with a cor sage and china in her chosen pat tern. Miss Hitchcock Honors Bride-Elect Honoring Miss Laquita Moore, whose marriage to James Hol land takes place Sunday, Miss Bobbie Hitchcock entertained with a miscellaneous shower Monday evening at her home in the King Apartments. During a delightfully informal hour punch, cake, mints and nuts were served. Later the honoree was presented the shower of gifts. The dining table was overlaid with a lace cover over pink and held pink roses flanked by tall pink tapers. Mrs. F. F. Hicks and Mrs. Mary Norman assisted the hostess. h. R. P. Circles fune Meetings Mrs. John Carter was hostess Monday to the afternoon circle of the Associate Reformed Presbyte rian church at her home. Mrs. R. L. Piaxico was leader of the “Self Appraisal” program and later objectives for the year were discussed. ' During a social hour the hostess served sandwiches, cold drinks and cookies. The evening circle met at the church with Mrs. James P. Sloan presenting the program on the topic for the month. Later the hostess, Mrs. Marion Nabors, served a refreshment course. Lilies and daisies were attrac tively arranged in the card rooms. A number of progres sions were made with Mrs. R. C. Adair winning top score, and second honors going to Mrs. Wil liam Jacobs. Later the hostess served a salad and sweet cuorse. Musgrove Club fune Meeting The Musgrove Home Demon stration club met at the home of Mrs. John Adair on June 1. The devotion, followed by prayer, was given by Miss Blanche Cox. Following the business session Mrs. Lester Nor ton, a local leader, had charge of the program. She discussed facts the group should know about “Buying Vegetables and Fruits—Fresh, Canned and Froz en.” Later refreshments were serv ed by the hostess. Informal Party For Miss Dorr Saturday morning Miss Ada Aim Furr entertained twelve friends with a soft drink party honoring Miss Mary Sue Darr, popular bride-elect. The living room of the host ess’ home was attractive with asters, magnolia and other sum mer flowers. During the informal hour cold drinks and party dainties were served. Miss Darr was remem bered with a corsage and a gift of china in her chosen pattern. Bridge Luncheon Given Tuesday Mrs. William Brooks Owens and Mrs. T. Heath Copeland; | jointly entertained with a bridge I j luncheon on Tuesday morning at the home of the former. Magnolias were arranged in the hall and elsewhere in the home gladioli and mixed bou- quests were decorative. Follow ing the progressions luncheon was served. Mrs. William Crutchfield made top score and Mrs. Harry McSween kept float ing prize. In the afternoon Mrs. Owens entertained members of her club and several additional guests. High and second score awards went to Mrs. C. W. Stone and Mrs. Goyne Simpson. After the games the hostess served a salad course. Pitts-Bonds Rites Solemnized Sunday A wedding of quiet simplicity and dignity was performed Sun day afternoon, June 5, at 4 o’clock in the Mt. Hebron Metho dist church in Columbia when Miss Jeanette Pitts and Joseph Huey Bonds, both of this city, were married by the Rev. H. O. Chambers, former pastor and close friend of the bride’s family. The bride and bridegroom en tered the church unattended. The double ring ceremony was per formed before an altar arrange ment of white bridal lilies, dais ies and gladioli Only members of the immediate families and a few cloee friends attended. For her wedding the bride wore an imported tailored white lace afternoon dress with white satin trim. Her accessories were powder blue and with this she used a white orchid corsage. Mrs'. Bonds is the daughter of the late Enock Lee and Nannie Adair Pitts. She is manager of Hamilton’s Inc., of this city. Mr. Bonds is the so nof Mrs. Hattie McCarley Bonds and the late Edward W. Bonds of this city. He is a lumber dealer and local cnotractor. After June H Mr .and Mrs. Bonds will reside in their newly completed home on North Adair street extension.
