Oran participated in the Music Scholarship contest held annual ly by Furman University for high school seniors and was one of the winners. The program was presented by Mrs. James Simpson, entitled “We Give Thee But Thine Own.” Assisting Mrs. Simpson were Mesdames Cecil O’Dell, John Cobb, and J. L. Abrams. The program marked the yearly pledge service and was most im pressive, using the open Bible and lighted white tapers. Refreshments consisting of j chicken salad, sandwiches, cook ies and drinks were served by Mrs. J. D. O’Dell, Mrs. Van God frey, Mrs. Floyd Abrams and Mrs. Pearl Williams. • • • The morning session of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service was held Tuesday morn ing at the home of Mrs. Virgie Gamer.
