Rev. and Mrs. Stanley Hardee, Jr., and Roger spent a few days the first of the week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hardee, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Ward in Conway. Spending Sunday with Mr. end Mrs. Ithiel Harvey were Mr. and Mrs. Guy Batchelor and chil dren and Mrs. Newton Patterson of Cherokee Falls, and Mrs. L. A. Hall of Spartanburg. Mrs. Wilson Campbell and small daughter of Spartanburg, are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Burdette. Mr. Camp bell was here for the week-end. Mrs. C. B. Sharpton, Sr., 5 of Columbia, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Tram mell and her daughter, Miss Bar bara Sharpton. While here she attended the Mitchell - Quinn wedding and visited several oth er friends. Mr. and Mrs. James Mundy spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Claude Nelson at Mt. Pleasant. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Grace and family of Honea Path, were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Grace, Sr. Among those from the Nation al Guard unit taking training at Fort Jackson over the week-end were Edward and Jimmy Car- roll, Lindy Barlowe, Sam Hairs ton, Ronnie Pace and Jimmy Gregory. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gaffney and Mack enjoyed a picnic din ner at Greenwood state park Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Corley and family visited relatives in Green wood Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Abercrom bie and family and Miss Helen Black spent Sunday with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Carroll in Pendle ton. Mr .and Mrs. Furman Bratcher spent the week-end at Clark Hill! and enjoyed a picnic at Green wood state park Sunday. Mrs. M. C. Smith and Connie Wilson of Laurens, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Smith a few days this week. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Bailey, Mel-! vm and Skeet Bailey, with W. E. Group Enjoy* Hike Thursday afternoon the Aawo- kiya group of Camp Fire girls met at the Community building for their weekly session. ’Hie girls had packed trail lunch and went on a hike, later stopping to enjoy the lunch. This group, composed of girls 12-14 years of age, meets each Thursday at 4:30. All interested girls of this age are invited to join. Father Passe* The community extends its deepest sympathy to Mrs. Henry Puckett in the death of her fath er, W. J. Morris, in Louisville, Ky. Mrs. Lena Revis has been con fined to her home suffering from an accident. Mrs. Frank Goss returned home this week from Hays hos pital after undergoing surgery on Wednesday of last week. Mrs. W. L. Motte is ill at her home. Mrs. Neil Ballew remains a pa tient at Hays hospital. Methodist Board Meeting The official board of the Ly dia Methodist church will meet Monday evening, May 2, at 7:30 p. m. at the church. Film Shown To Woman's Club The Lydia Woman’s Club held its regular meeting on Thursday evennig, April 21, at the Provi dence school presided over by the president, Mrs. David Rob erts. Mrs. Horace Smith brou£it the devotional for the meeting . A film entiled, “Enduring Modem,” was shown by George Fleming, carrying out the month’s theme, “Home Beautifi cation.” Mrs. George Copeland, Lydia Mills nurse, was welcomed as a new member. ^ - Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. B. Members of he Kindergarten Mothers club met at the Com munity center Monday afternoon and worked on the making of curtains for the lone Wallace Kindergarten rooms. This was the proect the club had for the year. Mrs, Calvin Cooper, presi dent, directed the project. Wadding Recaption The wedding reception imme- diatey following the wedding of Miss Margaret Mitchell and Al ton Gwinn was held at the Com munity Center Friday evening. The lounge was lovely with ar rangements of pink and white snapdragons that farmed the background for the receiving line. The gbests were invited into the dining room tor refresh ments. The table was laid with ^ white cloth and centered with a three-tiered wedding cake, top ped with a miniature bride and groom and circled with pink car nations. A tall arrangement of lavender stock and white snaps on one end of the table was tied with mile green satin ribbons that reached to the opposite end and held four tall candles in place with pink net ruffles. A huge green satin bow hung from the center of the cloth. Smal cake squares decorated with lilies in lavender and pink was served on crystal plates. Mrs. Clarence B. Word presided at the punch bowl and Mrs. Wal ter Patterson bade the guests goodbye. ' — Auto Dealers Set Convention, Show At Myrtle Beoch Columbia.—The South Carolina Automobile Dealers Association, which annually has one of the state’s most extensive conventions. has added the biggest feature in its history to the 1066 program. It is a statewtde auto snow ex pected to attract thousands into the pavilion at Myrtle Beach, the show sRe, in the first time that the public has been able to parti cipate in the dealers’ annual pro gram. The show will feature James Melton, the renowned baritone, Dean Hudson and his orchestra, and a bevy of beautiful South Carolina girls, who will model alongside the new cars and com pete for the title of Mias Carorama of 1966. The dealers will convene this yew at the Ocean Forest Hotel In Myrtle Beach, May 21-06, with the auto show running concurrent ly the Myrtle Beach PavUidh.
