Yellow roses and daffodils made a pretty setting for the three tables in play during the afternoon. Following the pro gressions a salad course was served. Mrs. Marion Milam and Mrs. Edward Ferguson were pre sented score prizes. The host esses’ gift to Miss Dillard was silver. ♦- Legion Auxiliary To Meet Tuesday The American Legion Auxiliary of Copeland-Davidson Post No. 56, will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, March 15, art Mrs. Jasper Rowland’s home at 8:00 p. m. Mrs. Leila Johnson is to give instruc tions to all members who are in terested in the Civil Defense Ground Observer Coirs—“Plane Spotting.” Mrs. Wingard, auxiliary presi dent, requests all members to attend. Bridge Club Has Meeting Thursday afternoon Mrs. J. B. Arnold entertained members of her bridge club with two tables in play. Club award for high score went to Mrs. Francis Blalock. Following the games the hostess served a salad course, cookies and cold drinks. Quince and daffodils with green ery were arranged as a back ground for the games. Bridge Party Given Tuesday Afternoon Mrs. Thurston Giles entertained friends for five tables of bridge at her home on Tuesday after noon. v Jonquils, fruit blossoms and oth er early spring flowers arranged iq the card rooms made a lovely setting for the party. Prizes for the progressions went to Mrs. Cecil Wilson and Mrs. Donald Schlier. When cards were laid aside the hostess was assist ed in serving a party plate by Mrs. C. C. Giles and Mrs. Lester Norton. Joint Hostesses Honor Miss Dillard Honoring Miss Lillian Dillard, popular bride-elect, Mrs. J. F. Ja cobs, Mrs. Robert F. Black and Mrs. W. M. Shields entertained with a bridge party on Wednesday afternoon of the past week. Daffodils and other flowers in a yellow and white note adorned the living room. In the dining room a pink and green motif was carried out. Later a salad plate was enjoyed and the guests were invited into the dining room where heart Shaped cakes iced in pink were served. Miss Dillard was presented a gift of silver. Musgrove Club March Meeting The Musgrove Home Demon stration club met at the school house on March 2. The opening song, ‘Beautiful Dreamer,” was sung and the de votional was given by Eugenia Byars. During the business session 5 UNESCO stamps were sold, pro ceeds from the sale to be used to help erect a building in Ceylon. The program was in charge of Mrs. C. T. James. For illustra tions she showed pictures from magazines. The demonstration was given by Mrs. R. G. Wrenn and Mrs. John Adair. They cooked and served scalloped potatoes. Coco nut pie was also served. Mrs. Townsend Addresses Clara Duckett Club Members of the Clara Duokett Garden chib met on Monday aft ernoon, February 28, at the bocne of Mrs. R. E. Ferguson. Co-hostess es were Mrs. W. C. Baldwin, Mrs. C. W. Cooper and Mrs. H. Earl Payne. Mrs. I. M. Smith, president. opened the meeting with a devo tional after which a short business session was held. Mrs. C. P. Townsend, of Laur ens, an accredited flower judge, lectured and made several spe cial arrangements. Punch, decorated cakes and nuts were served during the social hour. Church Circle Group Meets With Mrs. Stutts The E31a Riddle circle of Thorn- well Memorial church met Tues day morning at the home of Mrs. F. M. Situtts. Mrs. Mary Adams, chairman, opened with prayer and Mrs. Elise Thompson gave the devotional. Mrs. W. R. Hough spoke on “Healing Of Our Tensions,” and Mrs. G. A. Black on "Keys to Per sonal Evangelism.” Mrs. Adams gave the Bible study from Rom ans. At the conclusion of the meet ing, the ladies were invited into the dining room for refreshments. The home was attractively deco rated with early spring flowers, including many hyacinths. Members of the group obeerv March Meeting Episcopal Auxiliary The March meeting of the Woman’s Auxiliary of AH Saints Episcopal church was held Mon day afternoon at the church with Mrs. C. W. Underwood, presi dent, presiding. Mrs. J. B. Hart led the open ing devotional and prayer. Rev. Clyde L. Ireland, deacon in ~ charge of All Saints church, ‘ spoke on "Evangelism,” request ing that the auxiliary elect a member to the committee on evangelism, primarily for the purpose of visitation of newcom ers and members who are ill. Mrs. James Macdonald volun teered to work in this capacity. During the business meeting plans were made for a rummage sale, tentatively set for April .1 and 2 with Mrs. Hart in charge. Further discussion included fash iAn show plans and tea to be held April 3 at the American Legion home. Mrs. Alex Stump listed the nursery schedule for the next few months. Mrs. Mac donald presented the program on foreign mission work in the Episcopal church. U. D. C.
