Ex Libris Club v Entertains Husbands Members of the Ex Libris club entertained their husbands at sup per on Wednesday evening of the past week at Lakeside Country chib. Candles, evergreens and berries were featured in decorations for the club. A turkey dinner was served buffet style fronv the din ing table adorned with red satin ribbon, lighted tapers a%d greens. and adorned the buffet table and smaller tables where guests were seated. Supper was served in buf fet style. ' Afterwards bingo was played with a number of prizes presented the winners. Later in the evening dancing was enjoyed. Bonk Employees Feted at Dinner Employees of M. S. Bailey and Son, Bankers, their wives and hus bands were entertained at dinner on Wednesday evening, December 15, at the Mary Musgrove Hotel. The buffet sujpper table was lovely with silver candelabra hold ing red candles and holly in s silver container. Greens were artistically arrang ed with red carnations and glad ioli in the living room. Ploy School Has Christmas Party The children, their parents and grandparents of Mrs. Horace Hor ton’s play school were entertained with a party on Friday evening at the Scout house. Santa Claus was a special guest at the party and presented gifts to the kiddies from a gaily deco rated tree. Greenery, snow and other Christmas scenes were used in decoration throughout the house. Mrs. Grady Chandler assisted in serving fruit cake and coffee to the adults and cookies to the chil dren. Legion and Auxiliary Give Christmas Party Friday evening the American Legion and Auxiliary entertained informally with a Christmas party at the Legion home. Throughout the club rooms, with a big open fire, Christmas decora tions added festive atmosphere. Tall burning red taipes and ever green sprays banked the mantel little daughters, Lucile and Sher- rard. Carols were sung and later John Holland Hunter, dressed as Santa, dsitributed gifts from the tree. Pictures were made of ths group and presented as a momen- to of the occasion. Wingords Entertain For Wedding Party Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Wingard en tertained with a dinner party on Monday evening for their nephew, Billy Wasson, of Hkkory Tavern, and Miss Mary Burton, of Laur ens, who will be married Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist church of Laurens. The sixteen guests included members of the wedding party, the groom-elect’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wasson, and his grandmother, Mrs. Effie Wasson. A seasonal and wedding theme were attractively combined, using a silver, green and white color scheme with a bell motif. The buf fet table held a floral wedding Shirley League, Steve Turner, Rachel Ann Wilaon, Joan Vassey, Gil Huguley, Emily and Sandra Davis, Anne Ray and Corinne Boyd. Later the group sang carols and refreshments of ice cream and “snow men" cup cakes were served. Lovely Party Given For Club Husbands Mr. and Mrs. John L. Mim- naugh entertained members of the latter’s bridge club and their husbands at dinner on Saturday evening. Five tables were arranged for the guests in a beautiful Yuletide setting which featured green and gold decorations. A large Santa Claus, painted on the picture window added to the festive oc casion. A three-course dinner was served the guests at small tables centered with green candles in decorated holders.^ each having a chimney over the lighted taper to give a hurricane lamp effect. As place cards each guest name was written on a Christmas ball. After dinner bridge was en joyed with score awards going to Mrs. W. G. King, Jr., Mrs. Reese H. Young, Robert E. Wysor 3rd, and W. G. King, Jr. ♦ Belk Employees Christmas Party Employees of the Belk’s stores here and m Laurens enjoyed their annual Christmas dinner and par ty on Tuesday evening, December 14, at the American Legion home. Covers were laid for eighty-six, including husbands and wives of the employees, and a turkey din ner was served. The home was beautiful with traditional holiday decorations. At intervals on the long banquet ta bles were lighted tapers, bright berries, evergreens and Christmas ornaments. Mrs. lone Wallace acted as mas- Sunday with Mr. and Mr*. W, D. Cauthen in Greenville. Armstrong and sons, Bill and Mac, of Gray Court, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hilt, of Anderson, and Bobby Hitt, of .Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, will spend Christ mas day with their mother and grandmother, Mrs. Eugene Hitt Lt. and Mrs. Marshall Lanter and little daughter, Marsha Anne, of Fort Berming, Ga., are here for the holidays with Mrs. Lanier's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank F. Mr. and Mrs. Bell Observe Golden Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. William East Bell of Renno celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a fam ily get together at the home here of their daughter, Mrs. John M. Ray and Mr. Ray on December 12. Mr. and Mrs. Bell were married on December 8, 1904, by the Rev. George Boyd at the home of the bride in Renno. Mrs. Bell was formerly Miss Janie Hollings worth. They have four children, W. E. Bell, Jr., Marysville, California, who was unable to be present; Mrs. Harry H. (Mary) Powell, and Olin B. Bell, Greenville* and Mrs. Ray (Martha) of this city. They have six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Bell have resided at the latter’s family homeplace at Renno with the exception of the period, 1913 through 1931, when they lived in Greenville. Black gave a Christmas party for her Florida School, school music pu pils at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Jacobs. Watkins recently re signed as a member of the Clinton city police department which he has efficiently served as an offi cer the past several years. Mr. Watkins has accepted a po sition as a deputy with the office of Sheriff W. A. Lowery of this county, and has already entered upon his work. He succeeds Dep uty Sheriff James P.
