No starting teams for either girls or boys have been selected at this time, the coach said. The girls have about twenty trying for a starting place on the team and the boys have about fifteen. Feb 18—District 2 Class “C” tournament here. \ 18 Farmers Apply For Bicolor Plants Eighteen farmers hkve made applications through the Laurens Soil Conservation District for 50,- 000 bicolor plants for the season, according to J. B. O'Dell, soil conservationist of the district. The plants will be planted around field borders or in field corners in one-eighth acre plots primarily for the production of food for quail and erosion con trol The plants were allotted the district by the South Carolina Wildlife Resources Department. According to Verne B. David son, biologist of the Soil Conser vation Service, “there is more bird food in one-eighth acre of bicolor than in one whole acre of peas,'' Mr. O’Dell said. Farmers Meetings Are Announced —— All farm people residing in the Mountville, Cross Hill and Hope- well communities are invited to attend a meeting at the Mount ville school on Thursday, Dec. 9 at T:30. The purpose of the meeting is to discus the amendments to the Social Security law which pro vides coverage for farmers, ef fective January 1, 1955. Miss Martha Pressley, manager of the Social Security Field of fice, will be present to discuss this topic and answer questions. E. B. Few r , Clinton agriculture teacher, will provide over the meeting. A similar meeting will be held at Shady Grove 'ommunity house on January 6, 1955. All farm men and women in this area are invited to attend these meetings.
