Evans and children spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. ^oy Chumley. Friends will be sorry to know Mrs. Chumley's father is seriously ill at his home. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Smith and daughters and James Smith attended the Smith reunion at Springs park in Lancaster Sun day. Mrs. Claude Parrish is spend ing two weeks in Washington, D. C., with her daughter, Miss Claudette Parrish. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Snider and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Snider and sons of Belton, were recent visi tors of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Snider. C. T. Fleming, Misses Eliza beth and Cora Sue Fleming of Belton and Mr. and Mrs. Zolue Fleming of Honea Path, were Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. George-Fleming. They lat er attended church services at the Baptist church where -Gw. Fleming was licensed to preach. Mr. and Mrs. James Fleming of Laurens, were also here for the services. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Johnson and daughter of Charlote, N. C., spent the week-end with the former's mother, Mrs. W. E. Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. H- W. Wiliams were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Parrish, Jr., in Aik en. On Sunday they honored Mr. Williams and Mr. Parrish with a birthday dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Carroll and daughters spent the week, end with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wingo in Inmam, Mrs. Aaron Armstrong and daughter, Sheila, were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Pennington in Gray Court. Mr. Fleming Licensed Sunday evening at the regular service of the Lydia Baptist church George Fleming was pre sented his license to preach. Rev. Stanley Hardee, Jr., pastor of the church, gave the charge to Mr. Fleming and J. B. Abrecrombie another licensed from the Lydia church, led in prayer. Following the preaching vice a baptismal service was held with three being baptized. Former Resident's Engagement following the morning worship A song service with preaching will be held in the afternoon. The Goss family of Ridge Springs will be guest singers and Rev. W. J. Nash of Franklin Springs, Ga., will speak at 3:00 p. m. Rev. James Bryan, pastor, in vites all friends, former pastors and members to attend. A.'s Pajama Party The Junior GA’s of the Baptist church enjoyed a pajama party at the home of their counselor, Mrs. Clyde Trammell, on Friday night. The nine girls present enjoyed outdoor games and t oaf ted marshmallows on the back lawn. They also made candy. A program on state missions was given with all the girls tak ing part. Birthday Party For Daughter Friday evening Mrs. Mart Sat terfield honored her daughters, Linda, with a party celebrating her 12th birthday. A large group of young people gathered to en joy the games and contests. Re freshments of party dainties with cold drinks were served. Linda received many lovely gifts from the guests. The public is cordial ly invited to attend. Former Pastor Passes Friends of Rev. L. W. Brown, a former pastor of the Lydia Pres byterian church, will team with regret of his passing. Rev. Brown’s death occurred Saturday evening at Self Mem orial hospital in Greenwood fol lowing a serious illness of three weeks. Funeral services were held in Abbeville Monday afternoon with interment services held in Gainesville, Fla., Tuesday. ♦ Pentecostal Holiness Homecom ing Sunday Homecoming day will be ob served at the Lydia Pentecostal Holiness church Sunday. Pat Davenport, Carolyn Roof, Bar bara Jo Todd, Janet Motte. Lily Bel Crawford, Carol Mills, Floy Hamilton and Barbara Roof en tered the beauty contest.
