Joint Birthday Dinner Sunday Mrs. Theodore Jackson and Miss Imogene Jackson celebrated their birthdays with a joint birthday dinner Sunday at their home. Mary Ann Nabors was seven years old September 13. Ceuaty Beauty Con teat A county-wide beauty contest will be a feature event sponsored by the Laurens County Fair, which opens October 4. Candidates for the title of “Miss Laurens County’’ will be selected at elimination con tests to be held all over the coun ty. The winner in the elimination contests will compete in the final event. The Exchange club of Clinton will sponsor the contest for the se lection of “Miss Clinton.’' A simi lar contest will be held September 21 in the auditorium of Providence school for the selection of “Miss Lydia." Any girl between the ages of 15 and 21 is eligible to enter. A talent contest will also be given. The pUbHe is invited to this event as an entertaining program will be given. Williams attended a birthday dinner in Hendersonville, N. C., Sunday in honor of Mrs. Williams’ father, W. W. Ball, who celebrated his 87th birthday Sept. 9. Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Seay of En- oree, were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Phipps. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fennell and Mr. and Mrs. J A. Lee of Reids- ville, N, C., were recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Fennell. Lewis Motte of Savannah, Ga., Ray Motte and Melvin Motte of Greenville, visited their brother, W. L. Motte, and Mrs. Motte on Saturday. Miss Barbara McLendon has re turned home after a two months stay in Riverside, Calif., with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Barry McLendon. Lydia School Open House Tonight This evening at 7:30 open house will be held at Providence school. All parents and others interested in the school are invited. The teachers will be in their respec tive rooms to meet and talk with parents, after which the Clinton high school band will give a short concert in the auditorium. This is sponsored by the Lydia Woman’s dub. Light refreshments will be served by the members of the club after the program. Sunday School Enjoys Ouling Saturday evening the Lydia Pentecostal Holiness church Sun day school enjoyed a hot-dog supper at the Lydia cook-out. Approximately seventy -five members were present. Ernest West is the Sunday school superintendent and Rev. James Bryan is the church pas tor. Mr. Pruitt Oakley is a patient at the Greenville General hos pital. Mrs. Curtis Taylor is improv ing after an illness and a few days stay at Harp hospital. Mrs. Horae* Collins has return ed home after several days treat ment at Blalock clinic. Lester (Rabbit) Harris is con valescing at home after an opera tion at Blalock clinic the past week. Mrs. Mattie Harvey is a patient at Blalock clinic. Mrs. J. C. Atkinson is able to be out after several days ilness. David Coker has returned to work after being ill. Glad to report A1 Williams has returned home from the Columbia hospital although he is still con fined to his home due to a broken leg injury. Birthday Dinner Sunday Mrs. Janie Prince was honored Sunday with a dinner, celebrat ing her birthday, which was given at the home ofr-Mra. Charlie Fow ler on the Greenwood highway. A bountiful picnic dinner was served and gifts presented to the honoree. Those present for this happy occasion were Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Nabors, of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Nabors and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nabors.
