P. Rowland. Two tables were appointed for refreshments and cantaloupe a la mode was served. Later during the progressions limeade, nuts and mints were enjoyed. A number of games following the wedding theme were played and each guest hemmed a dish towel which was presented the hon- oree. She was also given a cor sage to wear for the occasion and a gift of crystal. A green and white mantel ar rangement featured gladioli and elsewhere in the receiving rooms mixed flowers in the chosen col or note were used. Refreshments of lime punch, a salad course and cake were also in keeping with the green and white party motif. Sard Weldon Jackson Celebrates Birthday In celebration of her third birthday which occurred Tues day, August 17, Sara Weldon Jackson was given a party Sat- Dessert Bridge For Club, Guests Entertaining members of her clUb * and several additional guests, Mrs. Tom Addison gave a dessert bridge on Thursday af ternoon. Zinnias and roses made a pret ty setting for the tables which were appointed for a sweet course before cards. Prizes went to Mrs. George Huguley and Mrs. George R. Blalock. Mas. Hugu- ley’s visitor, Mrs. Oattis Parks of Fort Worth, Texas, was a guest for the party. Bridge Luncheon* By Joint Hostesses Tuesday morning Mrs. William Crutchfield, Mrs. Edward Camp bell and Mrs. W. Y. Thompson jointly entertained for twelve tables of bridge at the home of the funner. Several progressions were en joyed during the morning and at noon the tables were apointed for luncheon. Mrs. Vance Is Bridge Hostess Mrs ; Robert M. Vance invited a number of friends for bridge at 10:30 Thursday morning. At noon a fruit plate was serv ed and sweets passed Presbyterian Women Have Joint Meeting A joint meeting of the Women of the <Church and the circles of the First Presbyterian church was held on Monday evening. Following a hymn and prayer a business sesion was held. The Rev. T. Layton Fraser taught the Bible lesson from Acts, clos ing the study with prayer. Following the program for the evening Mrs. G. A Burton, presi dent, invited the group into the ladies parlor for refreshments and a social hour. Visitor Here Is Complimented Friday afternoon Mrs. Robert E. Wysor invited a few friends to meet Mrs. O. O, Owens of Moul trie, Ga., who is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Robert E. Wysor, Ad. ; Miss Margaret Bell of Staun ton, Va., who is spending the summer here, assisted Mrs. Wy sor. Party dainties were served during the .informal hou^ LIZ Miss Bessie Barrett, former resident of this city, became the bride of Walter Epperson of Dal ton, Ga., June 20 at the Church of Christ, Ringgold, Ga. Evangelist Elbert Henry per formed the ceremony in the presence of the immediate fam ilies. The bride wore a street length dress' of baby blue nylon with white accessories and a white or chid corsage. Mrs. Epperson is the daughter of Mrs. Lillie Barrett and a sister of Mrs. Cecil Scogin of this city. She graduated from Clinton high school and Berry college of Rome, Ga. She now teaches in Rocky Face, Ga. Mr. Epperson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Epperson of Dal ian, Ga. He graduated from Dalton high school. He served two years in the army with 14 months in Korea. Upon receiv ing his discharge in September, the young couple will move into their newly constructed home in Rocky Face where Mr. Epperson plans to continue his education. And Mrs. Webb Visitors Here Rev. and Mrs. George M. Webb and children of Knoxivlle, Tenn., recently spent a few days with Mrs. Webb’s parents. Dr. and Mrs. John McSween. On Thursday and Friday mornings Mrs. McSween was hostess to a few friends infor mally for a drop-in for her daughter, the former Mias Caro lyn McSween. The Webbs are spending the week at the McSween cottage at Garden City and will return here on the 28th. The Rev. Mr. Webb will be the guest minister at the First Presbyterian church on Sunday morning, the 29th. Revivol Services At Langston Church Revival services will qe held at the Langston Baptist church be ginning August 22 and running through August 28. Rev. Ken neth Jones of Mt. Pleasant church will be the guest minis ter for the services which will be held each evening at 7:30, with the public invited. Giles and Mrs. Lester Norton en tertained friends for bridge for the former’s daughter, Mrs. C. B. Kugler of Washington, N. C., who was visiting here. . , . . , . Puryear of Sumter, was also an out of town guest. Woman's Club Meet To Elect Officers; Rev. Barron Speaks The Clinton Mills Woman’s club will hold its regular month ly meeting August 19 at the Community building at which time new officers will be elected and the annual banquet and in stallation of officers will be plan ned for a September date. Ladies of the community who are not members but who would like to participate in the club’s and bride’s cakes.
