McCrary, Sr., spent last week in Camden with her daughter, Mrs. Eugene Sheorn and Mr. Sheorn. Mrs. W. R. Pitts, Jr., and Mrs. Abit Alexander also spent several days there and on Wednesday Mr. and Mrs. C. H. McCrary and son, Clyde, Mrs. Mabe McCrary and daughter, Brenda visited the Sheorns. Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Elder, Jr., and children, Nonna and Harry Elder, have recently moved here from Athens, Ga., and are oc cupying the Sykes home on Pine Street. Mr. Elder is connected with Allied Producers. Another son, Tom, 3rd, is a student at the University of Georgia. Mrs. J. C. Thomas and daugh ter, Miss Kay Thomas, are guests of their sister and aunt, Mrs. J. M. Holliday and other relatives in Charlotte, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. N. L. C., where she will take a training course at Meredith College, in preparation for summer work with the North Carolina State Mission Board as a vacation Bible school leader in the Blue Ridge association near Marion, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Plaxico on Sunday visited the former’s! mother, Mrs. J. E. Plaxico who has been ill in a nursing home and hospital at Gaffney. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Sloan, Jr. and children are spending the week at Ocean Drive Beach where they are chaperoning at fraternity house party. Mias Louise Tribble, student at Emory University, left this week for New York inhere she will take a three months course in pedia trics at the Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University. Lt. V. S. On Friday he was at Clemson College for an oral examination for his masters degree in science, which he will receive next wreck. Jenkins of A MESSAGE TO MY FRIENDS AND FELLOW CIJIZENS: I entered this campaign on my past record as a road builder and my previous experience in handling the county affairs and dealing with the public in general. Before I made the decision to run for Supervisor, I had requests from < | my friends in all sections of the county urging me to make the race. I * appreciate this confidence shown in me, and I am conducting a clean campaign. At present I am engaged in a small earth-removing and contracting business and live approximately three miles above Laurens on the Green ville Highway. I was elected and served as County Supervisor two years, 1941-1942, filling the unexpired term of the late A. Rhett Martin. I was a candidate in the Democratic Primaries in 1942, 1946 and in 1950. Each time I was in the second race and was defeated by a small margin. In 1950 I was defeated by only 52 votes. If elected supervisor, I propose to cooperate with the county com missioners and all other public officials for the betterment of our county. I would like to see improvements at the chain gang camps just as soon as funds are available. I favor as many more miles of hard-surfaced roads as our money will allow. I am in favor of necessary improvements on school and church grounds, but would not go so far as to do jobs that come under Hie private contractor's duty. If elected, I shall spend the public's monies wisely and give an accu rate accounting of all the county's expenditures.
