Miss Corrine Maye of Green ville, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Maye. * A3c Leon Hedspeth of Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois, is spend ing two weeks with his mother, Mrs. John Hedspeth, and other relatives. Mrs. Lonie Bradford and son, Dean, of Columbia, spent several days recently with Missesi Eliza beth and Jeanette Woodward. Sgt Bradford joined them for the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. John Whitmire spent the past week-end with their daughter, Mrs. Vernon Wil liams, and Mr. Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Thiba- deau and son, Johnnie, Mr. and Mrs. John Campbell visited the latter’s brother, Jim Arrowwood, and Mrs. Arrowwood in Gaffney recently. Eugene Howell of Cuba, has been visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Edmonds. Mrs. Leo Riser and Mrs. Sid ney Riser spent a few days re cently with the former’s daugh ter, Mrs. H. C. English, Jr., and Mr. English in Montgomery, Ala. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Ivey and children visited his mother, Mrs. C. E, Ivey, in Ware Shoals Sat urday. Pvt. Gene Dunaway has been transferred to Camp Kilmer, N. J. Mrs. Dolie Quinn and Miss Peggy Quinn of Pacolet, were week-end guests of the former’s daughter, Mrs. W. F. Carroll, and Mr. Carroll. Mr. and Mrs. George Smith of Martin, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Whitworth of Toccoa, Ga., were recent visitors of Mr. and ' Mrs. Arzo Ivester ROv. and Mrs. Dial Jacks and son of Seneca, and Richard Jacks of North Greenville Junior col lege, visited Mr. and Mrs Frank Jacks during the week-end. Mrs. J. H. Seay is visiting her sister, Mrs. Emma Neal, in Greenwood, this week. Mrs. M. L. Poole, Misses Ar- leatha Poole and Judy Cole vis ited Mrs. Poole’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Walker Locke, in Chesnee Friday. Mrs. Grange Campbell, Silas Campbell and Bobby Pearson visited in Greenville Saturday. Misses Catherine Dunaway and Laura Meggs of North Greenville Junior college, were week-end guests of Miss Duna way’s parents, Mr. and Mra B. F. Dunaway., Mrs. Blanche Creswell, Mr. and Mrs. James Craine, Mrs. H. W. Simmons, Mrs. Rosa Owens, Mrs. P. G. Smith, J. W. Craine and Harvey Malpass attended the all night singing convehtion in Greenville Friday. ^4r. and Mrs. Charlie Foster and daughter, Vickie, spent the week-end with Mrs. Foster’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Brant, in Whitmire Mr. and Mrs, Thomas Prather were called to Newberry Friday due to the serious illness of Mrs Prather’s father, J. T. Ferguson. Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Leopajd week due to the death of Mrs. Tinsley’s father, Earl Kellett. Mrs. J. J. Smith, Misseq Nan and Nell Smith, Mr. and 1 Mrs. Melvin Seay and Mrs. Grady Smith visited Mrs. Royce Smith at Self Memorial hospital in Greenwood during the weekend. Birthdays and Wadding Anniversaries Ready class of Calvary Baptist church, Mrs. Joe Campbell, teacher, enjoyed a progressive dinner which began with an ap petizer, with Miss Betty Caugh- ruan, salad with Miss Jackie Franks, main dish with Mrs. Campbell, and dessert with Miss Judy Cole. The girls reported a very enjoyable evening. Honored On Birthday On Sunday, April 4, Mrs. Sam Hoovfer hqnored her husband with a birthday dinner at the home. Honored On Birthday Tuesday afternoon at the Com munity building Mrs. Rufus King entertained a number of little boys and girls with a party honoring her daughter on the occasion of her 8th birthday. Upon arrival the little folk were presented little hats, and outdoor games were enjoyed. Later the little folk were invited into the dining room where a lovely birthday cake centered the table. Ice cream cake and drinks and Easter candies were served. Maria was presented gifts from her friends on the happy occasion. Mrs. Frank Moore assisted Mrs. King in entertain ing the young people.
