In this addrent he gave a list of “South Carolina Firsts,” which was vfery interesting and informative. At our request, he furnished us with this list and gave us permission to use it as we saw fit. Feeling that many South Car olinians are not as familiar with the greatness of this state as they should be, and that a series of short articles about our state and the many things in which it leads, would be of great interest - to our people, it is our purpose for a time to devote this space to such a series. ' Atlanta—In another decode the flow of‘ college graduates from the South will not only be reversed, but the region will also see its per capita income reach the national level, according to forecasts made in the annual review and summary of the Southern Association pf Sci ence and Industry. _ * The South has already reached a new peak in economic and tech nological development, and indus trial activity in the area should con tinue at a high level in 1954, reports H McKinley Conway, Jr., SASI di rector. . He estimates 10,000 more research workers will be employed in the South in the next ten years. The view is expressed by James F.
