Refreshments in keeping with the Christmas motif were served dur ing the evening. Beautiful holiday decorations prevailed throughout the home. In the dining room the table, overlaid' with a red lace cover, held a pe- j destal, fruited arrangement adorn-j ed with ornaments and holly. Auxiliary Gives Party For Episcopalians On Thursday evening of the past) week the Auxiliary of All Saints Episcopal church entertained mem bers with an informal Christmas party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R M. Turner honoring Rev. and Mrs. Edwin Clippard and members of the choir. The Rev. Mr. Clipard tendered his resignation to the congregation last Sunday, to be effective Janu ary 1, when he will go to Charleston to be minister of the Church of The Holy Communion. Bright colored ornaments, can dles and greenery were used throughout the receiving rooms and on the refreshment table where as sorted sandwiches, fancy cookies and coffee were served. Mrs. R. B. Hellams poured coffee and others assisting in entertaining were Mrs. E. N. Sullivan, Mrs. A. B. Stump and Mrs. C. W. Underwood. "Joy Gift Program" Presbyterian Women The December meeting of the Women of the Church was held on Monday afternoon at the First Pres byterian church. “The Christmas Story,” from Luke, was used by Mrs. Francis Blalock as the worship service. After several Christmas hymns and the yearly reports of officers, Miss Mary Ann Craig presented the Joy Gift program, assisted by Mrs. Jas per Rowland. An offering was tak en for retired ministers and their families. Mrs. Norman Sloan, ac companied at the piano by Mrs. Heath Copeland, sang “An Aged Minister’s Prayer”. Dr. W. R. Turner conducted the installation services for newly- elected officers. Belks Employees Christmas Party Employees and their guests of the Clinton and Laurens Belk’s stores were given a Christmas party on Thursday evening at the American Legion building. The head table held a floral horn of plenty fashioned of red carna tions and greenery', complimented by lighted tapers, white chrysan themums and tiny reindeer. Simi lar smaller arrangements with col ored ornaments adorned the other tables. A four-course turkey dinner was served, and later carols sung. Kay Mills and his orchestra played and Henry Chandler called for square dancing. EASTERN STAR TO MEET The regular monthly meeting of the James B. Parrott Chapter, Or der of Eastern Star, will be held on Friday evening, December 18, in the Masonic Temple. Candidates will receive degrees of the order.
