Club Christmas Party The Business and Professional Woman’s Club Christmas party was held .Tuesday night at the Commun- g ity House at Joanna. The party was highlighted with entertainment by Mrs. W. Y. Thompson and young daughter, Sherard, Mrs. Harry McSween and daughter, Lucile. The two little girls, with all the!: poise of grownups, sang, “I Saw Mama Kissing Santa Claus”, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and ‘Away in a Manger.” Then Lucile recited two poems. Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Mc Sween, who have the radio pro gram, “Helen and Frances” render-! ed Christmas music and recitations.! Mrs. lone Wallace, who is State Music Chairman, was in charge of the entertainment. She led the group in gay dances and songs. The ballroom was festive with a giant tree and other Christmas dec orations. A turkey dinner was served by £ the Women's club of Joanna. * Bums-Voung Rehearsal Party The home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Miller at MountviUe was the scene I of a lovely rehearsal party in its setting of bright fall flowers when Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Paul Cole- ! man entertained the members of I the Burns-Young wedding party, TTeeently following the rehearsal at i the MountviUe Baptist church. The hostesses were assisted in en tertaining by Mrs. J. B. Cooley, Mrs. Lucius P. Burns, and Mrs. Ed Burns of Columbia. After the serving of refreshments of assorted sandwiches, punch, toasted nuts, and mints, the bride- to-be cut the beautiflly decorated three-tiered wedding cake and pass ed slices to the assembled guests. Miss Myra Burns, whose wedding to Kenneth Young was solemnized at the MountviUe Baptist church Sunday afternoon, November 8, wore a pastel pink jersey dress adorned with rhinestones and pearls. Mrs. Betts Hostess To Study Club The December meeting of the Wednesday Study club was held yesterday afternoon at the home ofi Mr. C. Bynum Betts on Walnut: street. Mrs. Robert Wysor was leader of the afternoon’s program when she read Christmas stories and poems, including “Holy Morning” (Eliza- i beth Madox Roberts); “Heaven! Cannot Hold Him” (Christina Ros ette) ; “Christmas Everywhere” j (PhilUps Brooks); and “God So Loved the World” (Elizabeth Goudge.) t Throughout the home Christmas decorations were effective. On the mantel, banked in evergreens and led berries, and adorned with a sus-| pended wreath, tall white graduat ed tapers and tiny angel figurines were arranged. A beautiful lighted and decorated tree was, in the pic ture window, and a ticking antique clock and an open log fire added * charm . For refreshments a congealed chicken salad course, coffee and bon bo ns were served. The Rev. Mr. Madden Weds Miss Anderson Summerton, Dec. 5—Miss Mazie Anderson of Summerton and the Rev. C.
