Sparks of Spartanburg, were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Sparks. Students home for mid-term holi days were Miss Catherine Duna way, L. R. Campbell, Dewey Bra zil and Richard Jacks. Mrs. J. H. Seay has returned home after visiting relatives in Ware Shoals. Mrs. Mollie Painter and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Bryson and sons spent Sunday with the former’s brother, J. F. Stroud, and Mrs. Stroud in Spartanburg. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Sparks visit ed relatives in Greenwood Sunday. Mr. and Mrsu Ray Cauble, accom panied by Mrs. Bud Fuller of Ly dia, visited Mrs. Betty Cauble in Anderson Sunday. Mrs. Sadie Mabry of Gaffney, is spending the week with her daugh ter, Mrs. Alvin Trammell, and Mr. Trammell. Rev. and Mrs. J. W. Spillers were guests of Rev. and Mrs. R. D. Gregg in Honea Path Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Adams and son, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Adams and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Leopard and daughters and Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Adams attended the funeral of the latter's sister, Mrs. Ersula Mc- Cary in Greenwood Sunday. Paul Glenn of Greenville, visit ed Mrs. J. H. Seay Monday. Rev. J. W. Spillers has returned from Charleston where he attended the Southern Baptist convention this week. Russell Lawson, Jack Lawson and children of Buffalo, and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Garrett of Honea Path, visited Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lawson during the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lawson, Jr., and daughter, Brenda, spent Sun day with Mr. and Mrs. Russell Law- son and Mrs. Ike Smith in Buffalo. Boyce Wilson of Clemson college, spent the week-end with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Wil son. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Cooper and family were week-end guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Cooper and Mr. and Mrs. S. C ‘Wade in Great Falls. Mrs. Sam Adams and friends of New Orleans, La., were guests of Murray Adams Monday. Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Corley, Bill Campbell and Mrs. Murray Adams attended the Southern Methodist church conference in Florence Sun day. Mr. Adams and W. R. Thom as, delegahtes to the convention, returned home with them. Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Reed of Spar tanburg, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Word recently. Rev. and Mrs. C. W. Barnes are engaged in revival services at West Side Church of God in Greenville this week. Mrs N. W. Bailey of Columbia, has returned home after visiting her daughter, Mrs. C. W. Barnes, and Rev. Barnes. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Roberts, ac companied by Miss Roberta Kitch ens, joined Oneil Roberts, student at the University of South Carolina, in Columbia Saturday and attend ed the North Carolina-South Caro lina football game. Birth Announcement Trammell Mr and Mrs. Alvin Trammell are receiving congratulations upon the arrival of a son, Ernest Gary, at the Blalock clinic on November 4. Mrs. Trammell is the former Miss Elizabeth Mabry of Gaffney. Woman's Club To Meet Hie Woman’s club will meet Taesday evening, Nov. 17, at 7::0 at the Community building. Ah ladies are invited to join the club. 1 WMU Organisations To Meet Monday evening at 7:30 the Woman’s Missionary ‘ Society of Calvary Baptist church will meet at the church for their regular , monthly meeting and a mission study taught by Mrs. Grange Coth ran of Laurens. All ladies of the chnrch are invited to be present • • » The Sunbeams will meet Tues day evening at 3:30 at th§ church. All children under eight years of age are invited to these meetings each week • • • The R. A.’s will meet Wednesday evening at 6:0 Oo’clock at the church. All juniors and interme diate boys are invited to the weekly meetings. Missionary Society Meets The Woman’s Missionary Society of Bailey Memorial Southern Meth odist church held its regular month ly meeting Monday, Nov. 2, at the home of Mrs. W. M. Adams. The meeting was called to order | by Mrs. Marvin Stewart, president,! and Mrs. David Word presented the devotional. 'Miss Sybil McCoy led an interesting round table mission study. During the business session plans were made to send the Leamans, missionaries to Italy, a box of gifts. Other business items disposed of, the meeting closed with prayer, after which the hostess served a cold plate with coffee. Number 46 Harvest Party Given The I-ki-ca-ga group gave a harvest party at 6 o’clock, Nov. 7, at the Community building. Delores Brookshire and Iris Hughes decorated the reception and dining rooms with colored leaves, chrysanthemums, pot flow ers, pumkins and fruit. The party began with everyone joining in a Thanksgiving song. Melissa Burdette led in quizzes, for tune telling and a potato dance. Prizes were giv^n to the winners. Refreshments prepared by the group were served in the dining 100m. Birthday Party Givan On Tuesday evening, Nov. 10, Mrs. C. E. Roberts entertained a group of teen-agers in honor of her son, Bobby, who was celebrating his 13th birthday. Bingo and other contests were enjoyed throughout the evening. The guests were Invited into the dining room. The table was center ed with a lovely birthday cak« which was cut and served with ic« cream, punch, candies and nuts.
