Scout Garner Honored Friends of Larry Gamer will be interested to know that he is wear ing a badge with these words in scribed: “ am going to the Jamboree of Boy Scouts of America—Cali fornia, 1953.” Last Wednesday afternoon at the J. C. Penney store building in Greenville Larry was presented this badge by L. L. Stanley. He is one of 29 boys in the Blue Ridge Coun cil to receive these badges. Mrs. Vernon Garner and Scoutmaster Guy Clark, acompanied him to Greenville. The boys will leave Greenville on July 12 for Atlanta, Ga., where they will be joined by others from this section and board a special train for the cross country trip. The boys will be gone approximately three weeks. Accepts Position In Clinton Friends of Mrs. Joe Purdy of near Newberry, will be interested to know she has accepted a posi tion as house mother at the State Training School. Mrs. Purdy will assume her duties July 1. Will Teach Piano Miss Joanne Thompkins has an nounced that she will teach piano this summer.
