Mrs. Neil Ballew is improving after being ill several days. Birthday Party for Daughter On Thursday afternoon Mrs. J. C. Estes honored her daughter, Lin da, with a birthday party. Outdoor games were played after which the children were invited into the din ing room where the birthday cake and ice cream were served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. F. L. Thornburg and Mrs. Clarence Bag- well. Linda received many gifts from the 45 little friends present, the oc casion being her 8th birthday. • ■ ■■ Sunday School Enlargement Campagin During the month of June the Lydia Baptist church * is planning | a Sunday school enlargement cam paign to begin next Monday with services being held at the church each night. There will be three! workers from the Sunday school J department to lead this campaign, and hold conferences each night at' 7:30 for the young people and! adults. * Rev. R. A. Hodge of York, will lead the campaign. Mrs. C. 6. Lamoreaux of Newberry, will lead! the conference for the intermedi-! ate and juniors leaders, and Mrs. N. D. Forehand of Conway, will lead the conference for the leaders of the primary, beginners nursery In addition to these state workers' there will be a study course for the intermediates and juniors who wilf not be in any of the regular con ferences. Rev. James Putnam of Laurens, will teach the interme diates. The junior teacher has not been selected. This is an all-out attempt to en list all the residents of the Lydia Mill community in Sunday school. The pastor is asking the co-ope ration of all parents in bringing their children to Sunday school in an effort to double the enrollment during the month. The month of June is Sunday School month at this church.^ Birthdays and Anniversari«s Mike Pace was 10 years old May 17, and Cathy Pace was 6 years old May 23. Annie Mae Dean was 5 years old May 27. Presbyterian Women To Meet The Women of the Church of Ly dia Presbyterian church will meet Monday night, June 1, at 7:30 at the home of Mks. Carson Neal on North Adair street. All women of the church are invited. Day Camp Next Week The Lydia Camp Fire Girls or ganization will hold its Day Camp next week beginning Monday morning at 9 o’clock. All girls in the community are invited to come and each is asked to bring a lunch. A program of recreation, swim ming, outdoor crafts and creative arts will be given. The day camp will be held for three days. Thurs day morning the group will leave by bus for four days at Crescent Beach. Here crafts and recreation will be given. The leaders Mrs lone Wallace, George Fleming, Mrs. Sara Templeton, Mrs. Evelyn Rob erts and Miss Mary Johnson, will be in charge, with Ernestine Par rish, Betty Jean Meeks and Margar et Mitchell as assistants.
