Continuing a study of “Women of the Bible” Miss Margaret Blakely discussed “Mary The Mother of Jesus.” Later a social hour was enjoyed and the hostesses served sand wiches, cake and punch. * Actaean Club In Meeting Friday The monthly meeting of the Ac taean club was held Friday after^j noon at the home of Jacobs. Daffodils, lilacs and iris were arranged in the receivihg rooms of the home for the meeting. Mrs. J. Toy lot Is Study Club Hostess A meeting of the Study club was held on Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. George W. Tay lor on Wodrow street with a num ber attending. Redbud was mixed with iris for a lovely arangement on the piano and red camellias were on the cof fee table. Mrs. R. E. Sadler gave an inter esting program on the brave feats of mountain men in a continuation of the years study on historical western characters. During the afternoon a salad course, coffee and cake were served. Blue Bird Groups Have Egg Hunts The tulip group of the Blue Birds enjoyed an egg hunt on Monday af ternoon at the home of the leader, Mrs. Hubert Boyd on Walnut street. After the hunt outdoor games were enjoyed. Mrs. C. E. Nichols, sponsor assisted Mrs. Boyd in serv ing, punch, cake and ice cream. An egg hunt will be given this afternoon at the home of Mrs. A. B. Stump for members of the Rdse group. The leader and assistant, Mrs. Frank Fowler and Mrs. Tom Addison will assist in entertaining the girls. Yellow Jasmine Club Tours Gist Home Thirteen members of the Yellow Jasmine club enjoyed a trip to Rose Hill, the mansion of the late Gov. William H. Gist near Sedalia in Union county on Tuesday. Those making the tour carried baskets and at noon a picnic dinner was served. The club members, of which Mrs. Henry Lukstat is president, motor ed over to view the old house which was restored in 1944 by Clyde Franks of Laurens, as a me morial to his son, Charles who was killed during World War IX. AMERICAN LEGION MEETS TONIGHT ' The Copeland-Davidson Ameri can Legion post No. 56, will hold the regular meeting this evening (Thursday) at 8 o’clock in the Le gion Memorial home. UDC MEETS APRIL 9TH. The meeting of the UDC chapter has been postponed because of the Easter holidays until Thursday, April 9, and will be held at 8:00 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Jasper Rowland. Easter Services At Episcopal Mission Easter services at All Saints Epis copal Mission are to begin today with the celebration of Holy Com munion at 9 o’clock this evening in observance of Maundy Thursday with the tradtional stripping of the altar, veiling of the cross and dark ening of the church. A watch service of prayer and meditation is to take place at 12 noon on Good Friday. On Easter Sunday a Holy Communion service will be held beginning at 9*15 a. m. The Rev. Edwin B, Clippard of Newberry, rector of All Saints Mis sion, announced the services today, extending an invitation to the pub lic. He is to be assisted by Prof. John S. Glover, lay leader. Beth Bishop Winner In Spelling Bee Beth Bishop of the eighth grade was winner of the Mountville school spelling contest held last week. She will compete with winners from other schools in the county at Lau rens on April 10th. Beth is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Bishop of Mountville.
