( Friends are sorry to learn that Mrs. Ratteree has been quite ill. Maxie Davis of Cedar Springs is Spending the week with his parents, Mr. arid Mrs. Hudson Davis. Miss Jean Ann Moore and Miss Sandra Jamison of Spartanburg were week-end guests of Miss Barbara and Kay Roberts. J. C. Thomas, S. A. has returned to New York after spending a ten- day leave with his mother, Mrs. Em ma Thomas and other relatives. Stanley Hardee is preaching at revival services at the Eastside Mission of the Lucas Ave Baptist church in Laurens this week. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Thompson and Jimmy of Laurens, visited Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McLendon. Mrs. Jesse Abercrombie and Pierce Shockley visited Mrs. Abercrombie at the Veteran’s hospital in Colum bia Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Grady and children visited the latter’s father, A. E. Wood in Union, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Burdette had as their guests for the week-end, the latter’s sister and niece, Mrs. Eliza beth Manning and Miss Virginia Manning of Iva. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mathis and fam ily of Gaffney visited Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Todd Sunday. With the Sick Glad to report that Mrs. Minnie Nelson is improving.' She is a pa tient at the Baptist Hospital in Co lumbia. Mrs. Bertie Attaway remains seri ously ill at the home of Mrs. W. L. Motte. H. H. Dalton is seriously ill at his home. Harold Wallace is a patient at the Hays hospital. Shirley Polsum is a patient at the Hays hospital. Also, Mrs. B. H. Hughey is a pa tient at Hays hospital. Birthday Party Enjoyed On Saturday afternoon Kay Rob erts was honoree at a birthday party. She was celebrating her tenth birth day. Gamse were played and an Easter egg hunt was enjoyed. No Easter Sunrise' Service ~ There-wrli’not be -an Easter Sun rise Service at the Lydia Mills this year as there has been in previous years but it is hoped that all who can will attend the citywide services at Johnson field at Presbyterian col lege at 7 a. m. Sunday morning. Easter Egg Hunt The Beginner’s Department of the Lydia Baptist church will have an Easter Egg hunt Friday afternoon at 5:30 o’clock at the church. Mrs. A. M. Shumate and Miss Maude Harvey are the beginners’ teachers. Surprise Birthday Supper On Friday evening the Home Mis sion organization of the Lydia Pen tecostal chrirch honored their pastor, Rev. R. R. Patrick with a surprise birthday supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Bagwell. A bountiful supper was enjoyed from a table centered'with a beauti fully decorated birthday cake. Rev. Patrick received many gifts from the number present. Birthdays and Anniversaries Mrs. Quinton Jones will celebrate a birthday April 8. Little Danny Pearson will be two years old April 4 and Johnny Pear son will be five years old April 5. 'They are sons of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Pearson. lone Wilkie will be seven years old April 12. Peggy Lee Kirby celebrated her birthday March 26. Joanne Kirby will have a birthday April 9. Steve Stroud will be hlto years old April 7. Rufus Edmonds celebrated his birthday Monday. Presbyterian Church Communion Service Lydia Presbyterian church will ob serve a candlelight communion ser vice this evening (Thursday) from 7:30 until 8 o’clock. Dr. D. J. Woods will administer the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. According to an announcement by the supply pastor, Glen B. Robinson, members of the Lydia Methodist church, as well as others who desire to do so, are especially invited to join in the service. Enjoy Trip To Charleston A group from the Lydia and Clinton Mills enjoyed a week-end in Charleston. Their first stop was at the Edisto gardens in Orange burg, and then a tour through Summerville. Middleton and Mag nolia gardens were at their peak and manny hours were spent at these spots. A tour of Charleston and a visit to the Tsle of Palms was made on Sunday^ At the Charleston Naval Base the group was taken aboard a minsweeper, the USS Verdin.
