Mabry of Gaffney was the week-end guest of her son- in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Trammell. Jack Spillers of Clemson College spent several days with his parents, Rev. and Mrs. J. W. Mrs. Boyd Morris of Greenville , spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. Sara Webb and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Trammell and Mr. and Mrs. Grover Sanders. Mrs. Edgar Brazil and sons, Martin and Cecil, have joined Sgt. Brazil in Anchorage, Alaska, and will make their home there for two years. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Winsdor and Miss Kay Medlock visited Mr. and Mrs. George Addy in Newberry Sat urday. Mr. Addy is seriously ill in the Newberry hospital. Mrs. Roy Kennedy is confined to her home with illness. Youth Rally To Be Held . The Laurens District Youth Rally of the Churches of God will be held Sunday afternoon at the Church of God on Elizabeth street at 2:30 pm. Special music will be given and a play presented by the Joanna church. Hobby club and the Woman’s club for the women of the village. The Hobby club offers to each woman an opportunity to learn new crafts and skills with help and training at little individual cost. * The Woman’s club, which takes the place of the P.-T.A. in the village works for the improvement of the community as a whole: They have interesting programs once a month and it gives mothers and others a chance to have fellowship with oth ers working toward the same goals and ideals. Each of these organizations in vites new members and seeks the cooperation of parents in the interest of their children. Missionary Meeting Held Monday evening at the home of Mrs. R. M. Sullivan the members of Bailey Memorial Southern Meth odist church Woman’s Missionary Society held their February meeting. The meeting was opened by the singing of ‘‘Jesus Calls Us,” followed by the devotional “Goodness” as a fruit of the Spirit brought by Mrs. Murray Adams. She closed the devo tions with a prayer. After the roll call and Minutes, a story concerning the theme song, “Jesus Calls Us,” was read by Miss Marie Weir. The first study of the evening, “Why Should I Bother?’’, given by Mrs. Marvin Stewart, gave a challenge of showing more interest in the mission field of Japan. Ttye second study was brought by Mrs. Ralph Lawson. Her subject was “When The Big Voice Fell.” After a brief business session, all enjoyed a salad plate served by the hostess and her daughter, Mrs. Betty Snelgrove. For girls: The Bluebirds, ages 7, 8, and 9 under the leadership of Mrs. A. C. Young and Mrs. L. C. Fick- lin; the Camipfire Girls, ages 10-13, under, the direction of Mrs.' Sholar, Mrs. Patterson, Mrs. Reynolds, Miss Mary E. Cannon, Ruby Tallow. The Horizon club, for those 14 and over with Miss Nellie Osborn and Mrs. J. W. Smith as leaders.’Each of these organizations is a part of the Na tional Campfire Girls with the same ideals and objectives. Through mem bership in these groups, the girls have opportuaity to develop mental ly, physically, socially and spiritual ly preparing them for a richer and fuller life for themselves and for the good of their community. For the boys, there are two organ izations: the Cub Scouts, for the younger boys, under the direction of Daniel Dunaway and Glenn Downs, and the regular Scouts with John Vassey as Scoutmaster. These two or ganizations, have long been recog nized as a trailing ground for good citizens and offer to the boys every opportunity for becoming well- rounded and well-prepared citizens.
