The new Ad ministration will be urged to pro mote foreign trade instead of foreign aid. Only by buying our neighbors’ goods can we get them off the relief rolls. To save ourselves, I predict, we will buy more abroad, although this will be hard on some United States irtaoufacturiers. 42. We are approaching the ehd of k long period of prosperity, much of which is based upon artificial meas ures. Therefore, some time during 1953 I forecast lower stock prices than exist today. 48. Yet, do not forget that the stock market was at about the same price point when President Hoover won by a landslide in 1928. With business prospects good for early 1953, confidence might again cause a temporary boom. If an “Eisenhow er bull market” develops, I strongly urge readers to take profits and build up reserves. With 12 months after Hoover entered the White House the Industrial Averages fell 100 points. 49. New Administration will not favor “soft money” policy. There fore, some further rise in interest rates seems probable. For this rea son, I favor high-grade, short-term bonds, rather than long-term. 50. Our little daughter, Eutha, had chickenpox last fall, then in Jan uary she had flu, followed by a bad spell of measles in April. All this left her so weak she could hardly sit up all day and seemed so nervous at night she would wake up crying and frightened. Her arms and legs seem ed be asleep so that we would have to rub her with alcohol and other rubs. We gave her vitamins and oth er medicines but she didn’t seem to get better until we started her on Scalfs Indian River Medicine. Be fore she had finished the second bot tle of this grapd old family standby sjae seemed ’just fine, and now she doesn’t seem like the same child.
