Weave Room Enjoys Party On Thursday evening the ladies of weaving No. 1, first shift, were entertained at the home of Mrs. Allen Power. Place settings were laid for six teen with Christmas bells and an attractive Santa Claus arrange ment on the piano and a beautiful arrangement on the mantel and the tables were each centered with su gar plum trees flanked by candles and large Christmas tree complet ed the decorations. After dinner Miss Tootsie Mad den and Donald Power delivered the gifts from under the tree. Each f guest receivd a gift and the weave room presented Mrs. Power with a picture Tor her new home. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Howard were special guests for the evening. Heuble and son, Mr. and Mrs. Fer rell Long and daughter, all of Jo* anna; Mr. and Mrs. Royce Smith and family of Ware Shoals Mr. and Mrs. Grady Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Lee Owens of this city. December 17th was the birthday of Henry King and Tiny Louise Medlbck. Today is the birthday of Mrs. C. E. Leopard, and Miss Rita Shelton will be 11 years old today. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shelton and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Terry are cele brating their 12th wedding anni versaries today. Mr. and Mrs. Marcell Barker are celebrating their 14th wedding an- niversay today. «»• ■ ■ - Intermediates Enjoy Christmas Party On Thursday evening, Dec. 11, the Intermediate department of Calvary Baptist church enjoyed a Christmas party in the social hall of the church; • The hall was at tractive with Christmas decora tions and a tree. About 41 boys and girls assem bled for the occasion and enjoyed games under the direction of Mrs. Alvin Trammell and Miss Mary Cannon. Mrs. Grady Smith, assisted by Ms. James, Dunaway and Mrs. Trammell and Miss Cannon served the group sandwiches, candy, nuts and bottled drinks, after which gifts wee delivered from under the Dr. Fred E. Ever-Ready Class Entertained , On Friday evening Mrs. Joe Campbell was hostess to the Ever- Ready. class of Calvary Baptist church at her home. Tables were laid for the group with dainty Christmas decorations and candles adorning each. A chicken supper was served by Mrs. Campbell and her daughter, Dawn. Gifts from under the tree were exchanged and a grand time enjoy ed by all. T. E. L. Class Haa^Party On Thursday, Dectonber 18, the T. E. L. class of Calvary Baptist chuch held a Christmas party at the Community house. Mrs. J. V. Lowe, president of the class, gave a welcome to all, followed with a devotional by Mrs. J. K. Reynolds. This class, which was organized the first Sunday in September, now has 37 jgn roll and an average at tendance of 20. "Afl present enjoy ed games and the singing of Christ mas carols. Around the Christmas tree the class presented Mrs. Land with a beautiful dress, ear-rings and handkerchief. Mrs. Joe E. Land presented two bird prints to the class for their room which was redecorated immediately after the organisation of the class. All en joyed a salad plate. Music Club Has Party The Schubert Music club on Fri day evening, Dec. 19, enjoyed their annual Christmas party at the Community building. The meeting was called to order by Elizabeth Cole, president, fol lowed by the devotional by Jackie Franks. Mrs. Joe E. Land had charge of the program which consisted of miscellaneous musical numbers sung and played by members. Sev eral Christmas carols and some of the more recent Christmas songs were enacted by various members. After the program all enjoyed the Christmas tree and refreshments served by several mothers of pu pils. "Th Music of Christmas'* A cantata, "The Music of Christ mas,’’ was presented Sunday eve ning, December 21, by the Calvary Baptist church choir, under the di rection of Mrs. Joe E. Land, Mrs. Bobby Boyce, organist, and Mrs. Robert eRynolds, pianist. The ' auditorium was beautifully decorated with white Christmas trees and candles. The procession al, led by two angels, Jackie Franks and Catherine Dunaway, followed by Rev. J. W. Spillers, was by both the youth and adult choirs. The youth choir carried candles and the adult choir sang. The manger scene was portrayed with Silas Campbell as Joseph and Shirley Lowry as Mary, with two angels on either side. Rev. Mr. Spillers read the Christmas story throughout the program. Teen-Age Christmas Party The teen-agers of Clinton mills community enjoyed a Christmas party with all the trimmings on Saturday night, Dec. 20, at the Community building. Christmas games and relays were directed by Mrs. Mike Sholar, as sisted by Miss Polly Brazcl. Lovely prizes were presented each winner. In the dining room f the table was adorned with green and top ped with a white organdy cloth. Greenery, red candles and Christ mas balls completed the setting. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Sholar, Mrs. Joe Land and Mrs. Terry. “■ITie Littlest Angel," by Charles Tazewell, was read by Mrs. Terry, and background music . furnished by Miss Catherine Dunaway, who played carols and Christmas music at various times during the eve ning.
