October 18, Th the high school auditorium. , The play is under the direction of Elaine Scanlan of Washington,; D. C., who has had % much exper ience in this type of work. Miss •Seantett—states t hat -she, -is .• greatly, pleased with the cast and antici pates one of the finest shows she' has ever directed. Cast Includes Prominent People The cast includes fifty _tp sixty local people who impersonate fam ous television, radio and movie | personalities. Doug Blanton is cast as Milton | Berle, the comedian of TV, and he' not only has the lead in the open ing s«fene, ‘Television Coast to Coast,’ but does a special scene alone, which is one of the most hi larious in the production. In this scene he stages a one-act play, us ing three characters and by use of different hats and change in voice, becomes ‘‘Little Nell, the Shero; ‘‘Scar-faced Al, the Villian,” and “Handsome Harry, the Hero.” This olcMime “melley-dramer” is one of the high spots of comedy in the show. Those who have singing leads in the show are Mrs. lone Wallace, who impersonates Klate Smith; Mrs. Helen Thompson, who will be spotlighted in the “Fred Waring Scene” as Joanne Wheatley. Vernon Powell in the role of the Singing Commercial, appears sev eral times throughout the produc tion in vaious costumes and dis guises. Each time he gives voice! to wonders of various products by advertising them in song. One scene in the show has Hayn- ie Prince as Jack Bailey, master of ceremonies on the “Queen for a Day” program. In this part fte actually interviews three women fom the audience and by means of audience applause, the winner is announced and crowned Queen for a Day. As is the case of the net- be the recipient of many exciting work show, the local Queen will gifts and awards which are being furnished through the courtesy ofi local mercants. Calvin Cooper will portray Fred Waring and introduce the numbers which Hweave old-time ballads with modem songs of romance. This number is patterned after “You Asked for It” show; which has become so popular on television. The audience is told | that a letter has been reveived from a listener who is a profession al baby sitter. This woman watch es television each night while she baby sits and it has occurred to her that she would like to see what the present-day TV stars looked like when they were pretty babies of yesterday.
