* Thursday, October 2,^952 ^ _ Methodists To Hold Conference In Greenville Greenville, Oct. 1.—The South Carolina Annual Conference of the Methodist church will convene here Wednesday, October 22, and endJhe following Sunday with the reading of assignments to Metho dist churcili throught the state. The date of the conference was announced by Dr. R. Bryce Her bert, pastor of Buncombe Street Methodist church, where the con ference meetings will be held. Presiding over the conference will be Bishop Costen J. Harrell of Charlotte, bishop of the Char lotte area, whcih includes the South Carolina Conference and the Western North Carolina Confer ence of the Methodist church, opening of the conference, meet- On Oct. 21, the day prior to the ings of boards and committees will be held and that night the Rev. J. Claude Evans of Clemson, will deliver the historical address be fore the conference’s historical so ciety. The conference will officially open the next morning with a memorial service followed by com munion. During the afternoon a short business session will be held for the purpose of organization and that night the churches of Green ville will present a program of music and declaration of faith as contained in the, episcopal address delivered at the Methodist Genreal Conference in San Francisco. Business sessions will be held the morning of Oct. 23 and a preaching service that afternoon. A presentation of the work of the board of misions will be given that night.
