Spurlock Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Spurlock are receiving congratulations upon the arrival of a son, David William, on Sept. 1, at Roper hospital, in Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Owens of Charleston. LaRoy Mr. and Mrs. Lester LeRoy an nounce the birth* of a son at Hays hospital on Sept. 1. Mrs. LeRoy is the former Miss Dorothy Jean Bur nette. Heaton Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Heaton an nounce the birth of a son, Steven Mitchell, on Sunday, August 31 at hospital. Mrs. Heaton is the former Miss Ethel Collier of Whit mire. Webb-Cannon Rites On Saturday morning at 10:30 Miss Patsy Jo Webb became the bride of Bardy Cannon. The ceremony was pefformed at the home of Rev.' J. A. Williams, officiating minister. Her suit was navy blue with white accessories, accented by a corsage of pink rosebuds. After a trip to the mountains of North Carolina the couple will make their home here with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sanders. On Monday evening the Inter mediate department of Calvary Baptist church met at the church and went for a visit and returned to the church for a slicing. watermelon Birthday Party Given Mrs. Louie Webb and Mrs. Ray Fowler w’ere hostesses Monday eve ning to 30 little folk honoring Ann Webb and Mike Fowler on their 4th birthdays. Outdoor games were enjoyed, af ter which lemonade and cookies were served. Holds Meeting The Woman’s Missionary Society of Bailey Memorial church held its regular meeting on Monday eve ning at the community building. The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Sara Word, vice-president. The devotional was given by Miss Sybil McCoy, followed by prayer. Miss Corrine Maye gave the Bible study on “Japan’s New Day.” A business session was held after which a salad plate was served by the hostess, assisted by Sybil and Corrine Maye. The October meeting will be held on the 6th at the home of Mrs. David Word. Birthdays and Wadding Anniversaries Mrs. A. A. Ridings celebrated a birthday August 30.
