Mrs. Julia Littlefield was called to Greenville Monday due to the death of her brother-iu-law, Mr. Cobb. ’ Little Billy Murphy of Belton, is spending this week with his grand mother, Mrs. Jessie Murphy. Mrs. A. D. Connor of Lexington, Md., is spending some time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. League. Mrs. Bill Blalock and children of Newberry, spent several days last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. T. Fuller. On Sunday Mrs. Blalock and the Fullers visited Miss Nell Fuller, student nurse at the Presbyterian hospital in Charlotte, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Brunson Asbill at tended the state Florist’s conven tion in Spartanburg Thursday and Friday. Mrs. M. D. Winchell and Miss ! Eve Winchell of Daytona Beach. Fla., are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bass Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Duncan and daughter, Maryleen, of Decatur, Ala., recently visited the former’s mother and sister, Mrs. W. J. Dun can and Mrs. Nene D. Miss Lillian Dillard returned home yesterday from Chapel Hill! N. C., where she has been attend ing summer school at the Univer sity of North Carolina the past six weeks. Rites Tuesday For A. D. Connor Alpheus David Connor, Jr., 49, son of the late A. D. and Henrietta Col lier Connor of Barnwell, died .in Lex- in g t o n Park hospital, Lexington Park, Md., Thursday night. Mr. Connor lived most of his life in Barnwell. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Grace League Connor of Lexington Park, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. League of this city; two brothers, Boyd Connor of Holly Hill, and New man Connor of Barnwell, and one sister, Mrs. E. A. Peterkin of Dillon. Funeral services were held from Thompson Funeral home at Orange burg Tuesday morning, with inter ment in the Whitehouse Methodist church cemetery. August 2, 1952 28-4cw Nine Injured In Cross Anchor Auto Accident Woodruff, Aug. 18.—Four members, of the Charlie Yarborough family of Whitmire are in the Workman Me morial hospital here today undergo ing treatment for injuries suffered Sunday morning when the car in which they were riding overturned near Cross Anchor after the driver lost control on a curve. Little Mickey Yarborough, 3, the Yarborough’s daughter, is thought to be the most seriously injured, having suffered a concussion of the brain. Mrs. Yarborough, Mr. Yarborough and son Ralph received cuts and bruises about the body, Ralph hav ing several teeth knocked loose and a cut on the mouth, but they are not thought to have serious injuries. Oth ers in the car who were brought to the local hospital immediately after the accident and dismissed after treatment were Mrs. Zella King and daughter, Mrs. Lillie Mae Graham, who was said to be the driver of the car, and Willie Graham and Lana Graham, who received minor cuts and bruises. Fountain Inn Mon To Face Charge Laurens—Ray Armstrong, Foun tain Inn farmer, today faced a charge of assault and battery with intent to kill for striking a nine year-old child with a leather strap. Highway Patrolman James C. Clardy who lives next door to Mr. Armstrong in Fountain Inn, sign ed the warrant before Maistrate J. T. Miller, of Laurens. He alleged the defendant struck his son.
