Holt, will preach at 7:45 Sun day evening. Union Vacation Bible School The union vacation Bible school. conducted by the Presbyterian and Methodist churches of Lydia, clos ed Sunday morning at 11 o’clock at Providence school. The school was conducted in the school build ing from 9 to 12 o’clock each morn ing for two weeks. There were 39 children enrolled, ranging in age from 4 to 14. The closing program consisted of songs, memory drills, and sword drills by the various classes. Faithful attendance cer tificates were awarded to many of the children who had missed only two days during the school. Teachers were as follows: Begin- rvttfs, Misses .Miriam Templeton and Pat Windsor; Primaries, Mrs. Clyde Smith and Mrs. Horace Smith; Juniors, Misses Martha Holt and Margaret Mitchell; Inter mediates, Rev. H. C. Holt and Rev. N. C. Bush. Hostesses who served refreshments were Mrs. Mark Windsor and Mrs. J. B. Temple ton. « » Girls Have Ouling The Wahanka Camp Fire girls, under the direction of their leader, Mrs. J. B. Templeton, cooked an outdoor breakfast Friday morning. The group had made paraffin stoves on which they cooked bacon, and eggs. Ralph Eugene, Jr., (Ricky) recently at a local hospital. Mrs. Blackwell be fore marriage was Miss Gladys Childers of Joanna. To Observe The Fourth The Glbrious Fourth will be ob served again this year in the Lydia community with plans being made tor a special field day program. Contests and races will be in store for all persons, Everyone is invit ed to take part. A grand prize will be awarded some lucky per son. Woman's Club Meets The Lydia Woman's club held its regular meeting Thursday eve ning ir the Community center with the president. Miss Mary John son, presiding. The devotional was led by Mrs. Floyd Poole who read the scripture from St. John. * The secretary read the minutes and called the roll. The highlight of the program was a talk on Par liamentary notes given by Sen. Ralph T. Wilson of Laurens. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. R. E. Whit mire, Mrs. E. C.
