King, and Mr. King. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Motte and children, Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Aber crombie and Marcellc, enjoyed a picnic at Horseshoe Falls Sunday Capt. and Mrs. Clyde Smith, Jr., Mike, and Carol Ann ( of Hunter Field, Savannah, Ga., spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Smith, Sr. Mrs. Maggie Grant is visiting in Newberry this week as the guest of Mrs. Millie Smith. Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Kuykendall received word on Monday night of the death of the latter’s sister, Mrs. Alva Wilson in Columbia. Mrs. A. M. Shumate, Mrs. Louise Broome and children of Camden, spent the week-end with relatives here and in Newberry. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Beal and fam ily of Atlanta, Ga., were _ week-end guests Of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Beal. Mrs._Bertha Gregory, who has been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Horace Smith, is spending several days with Mr, and Mrs. Lawrence Harris in Clinton. Mrs. J. B. McCauley at her home near Ly dia on Thursday evening at 7:30. All members are invited to meet at the church at 7:15 where trans portation will be available for those not having cars. Rev. H. C. Holt will^ preach at the 11 o’clock hour at the Presby terian church. Services are held at the Com- 1 munity house while their church building is being built. J. B. B. Tem pleton, presiding. Mrs. H. C. Holt and Mrs. Horace Smith gave reports on the Presby- terial meeting held recently in Ab beville. > After the meeting the group en joyed a social hour. To Present Curtain The Woman’s club, whose proj ect for the year w T as the hanging of a velpur curtain in the audi torium / of Providence school, will present the curtain to the school in a ceremony Friday night at 7:30 o’clock. The guest speaker will be C. E. Saint-Amand of Newberry, and a chorus of the school children will sing. Miss Mary Johnson is president of the club and invites the public for this program.
