' Palmetto Stale Performance The reorganized Teen-Age club will sponsor a performance of the Palmetto State Gospel quartet and others, a vocalist, string instru ments and pianist April 17 at Jo anna school auditorium. The ad- mision will be 65c for adults and 35c for children. Arts Club To Meet Thursday at 7 o’clock at Joanna club the Arts and Crafts class will meet. Their work is the continua tion of figurines. Easter Pageant An Easter pageant, ‘Tarry Ye Here and Wait,” will be presented at Epworth Methodist church Sun day evening. The first part of th* program will consist of the children of the church and the concluding portion will be readings by adults on paintings of Christ, with music by the choir. Wins Sword Drill The Northwestern Regional Training Union convention was held at the First Baptist church in Laurens on April 3. Elvin Floyd represented the junior group of the Reedy River association in the Sword Drill and won second place Miss Myrtle Murphy represented the Intermediate group and won first place. Miss Murphy will rep resent the region at the state asso ciation meeting in Greenville April 21-22. The Northwestern Region is com posed of four associations: Lau rens, Abbeville, Reedy River and Saluda. The Reedy River associa tion consists of Joanna, Whitmire, Bush River, Clinton and Newberry. Club Met Thursday Joanna Woman’s club met Thurs day evening at 7o’clock. Mrs. E. J. Willingham, president, presided, and Mrs. Cork Poag offered the evening prayer. During the busi ness discussion, a committee was apfpointeid to gather iwfortnation and plans for a summer trip. Those serving on this committee are Mes- dames Dollie M. Carr, Beatrice Ab- — 1 rams and Rolfe Clark. Mrs. Lavinia Cooley presented an appropriate Easter program in song and verse. She was assisted by 8 voices in the robed choir. Mrs. Earl Arthur and her group served assorted sandwiches, pota to chips, Easter eggs and coffee. Mrs. Murphy Entertains Immediately following the East er music rehearsal on Monday eve- -ning Mr. and Mrs. Harold Murphy entertained the group at thei/ home on Calhoun street with forty-five in attendance. Mrs. Murphy served a buffet supper amid arrangements of spring flowers.
