Gussie, who was introduced *by Rev. J. W. Spillers, spoke to the group about Communism in Eu rope, and particularly in Triesjr. He told of many, of his personal el- periences while there in the army. The Brotherhood of the church was organized in July, 1951, and now has 25 members. Jack Rhodes is the president. Melody Club td Meet The Melody Club will me,et Thurs day eveniug, February 7, at the Community House, at 7:30. Girls from seventeen, to thirty, married or single, are invited to join this group. Campfires Divide Into Two Groups A business meeting of the damp- fire Girls was held at the Presby terian church the past week, to di vide the group. Mrs. B. C. Preslar is guardian of tne original O-Ki-Hi unit With Miss Catherine Glenn as assistant and Mrs. Elizabeth McLendon as spon-. sor. Mrs. Leonard Bishop will be leader of the new group and will be assisted by Mrs. William Chisholm. Their sponsor is Mrs. John T. Goesta Honored Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Daven port were honored Saturday even-| ing at the Community building by I the Buffalo Baptist choir. A buffet ! supper was served by Mrs. Henry ; Holley. After Miss Marian enter-1 tained the group in “An Old Songs Frolic ,r , a beautiful china plate was presented to the honored guests in| appreciation of their work with the choir. Campfire Ceremonial ^Saturday evening about 6:30 a bonfire could be seen blazing behind the Community House as the Camp fire Girls were having a ceremonial meeting. Following the ceremonial came the pleasant activity of roast ing hot dogs. In this the girls were aided by Mrs. Joe Cooper and Miss Nellie Osborn, Campfire Guardians. A ‘Schubert Music Club On the first Monday evening of each month the Schubert Music club meets at the Communiiy House. Last Monday, February 4, at 7:00 p. m. the meeting was opened by Robert Yarborough, the president. After a prayer by Miss Polly Brazil, the club song was sung. Miss Pat Cunningham gave an 'interesting article on the ;life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the great Austrian composer of the eighteenth century. This was follow ed by a quiz on what she had given them. The program, under the direc tion of Mrs. Joe Land, consisted of numbers to tbe played.in the Guild in April. Group singing closed the meeting. Enjoyable Meet for Brotherhood The Brotherhood of Calvary Bap tist churoh enjoyed a chicken stew on the evening of February 1 at the church.
