Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bridges of
Laurens, announce the engagement
of their daughter, Marian Gaynell,
to Arthur Lewis Ridings, son of
Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Ridings of this
city. The wedding will take place
December 8 at Leesville Methodist
church near here.‘

Rites Announced

of Greenwood, announce the recent

wooed Egyptian workers to stay on
their jobs with the British forces
through slips stuck in their pay en
velopes today.
About 35,000 Egyptians got the
notes assuring them they would be
protected, housed and fed if they
stick with the British.

buffet supper.

Wedding Solemnized
At Lisbon Church

Henry Corbett of Mountville and
Clayto Lamar Roberts, son of Mrs.'
Clay to Lamar Roberts and the late
Mr. Roberts of Anderson, were
united in marriage at 4:30 Satur
day afternoon, October 20, at the
Lisbon Presbyterian church, Mount
ville, in a double ring ceremony
with the Rev. George A. Anderson
officiating. ,
The vows were spoken before the
chancel, overlaid in white with a
tracery of ivy, pine and magnolia.
Floor baskets of gladioli were ar
ranged around the altar which was
lighted by candles.
Preceding the ceremony, Mrs.
Malvin Williams played several se
lections • and Mrs. William McNeil
sang “Because”, “I Love You Tru
ly” and ?The Lord’s Prayer”. The
traditional wedding marches were
used for processional and reces
sional.
