Hays are spending several days in New York. ^ Mrs. Resse Young has returned from a visit to her sisters, Misses Mary and Lila Dillard, in Colum bia. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. McCauley and son, Howard, attended the banquet honoring Mrs. McCauley’s mother, Mrs. Lidie Howard, of York, given ' Wednesday evening in Rock Hill by the Southern Bell Telephone company. £ James L. McCauley of Fort Ben- ning, Ga., spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Mc Cauley. Mrs. Robert Wysor, III, and baby, is spending the week with her mother, Mrs. C. O. Owens, in Moultrie, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. A1 Thayer and daughter, Merrill, have reutmed from a few days visit in Stark, Fla. Mrs. J. W. Copeland spent the week-end in Abbeville with Mr. *and Mrs. William H. Kryder and son, Rev. William R. Kryder. Mrs. O. T. Lawing of Greer, Dr. and Mrs. J. B. Kay of Byron, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Meadors t * of Macon, Ga., visited Mr. and Mrs. W. G. King over the week-end. Misses Nadine Noland of Spar tanburg and Alice Templeton of York, have been added to the staff P at Hays hospital as technician and nurse, respectively. Leland Young and daughter. Maudie. spent the week-end in Ral eigh. N. C. and attended the Clem- son-N. C State football game. Capt and Mrs. Edwin W. Stew art and daughter. Ellen, of Camp Rucker. Ala., were guests over the week-end of Mrs Lila C. Stewart and family. They were enroute to li New York where Capt Stewart will sail soon for overseas duty In ; Germany. Mrs. J. Lee Young spent the p week-end w Chester with relatives. Mrs. H C Layton was called to ’Shelby, N. C- Tuesday due to the serious injuries at her niece. Mrs J. Arthur Lindsay, in an automo bile accident Dr and Mrs. Robert Rice and children, Scottie and Susan Kath ryn, of Memphis, Tenn., spent a few days last week with the latter’s mother, Mrs. R. A. Steer, and Mr. Steer. Friends of Cpl. Walter Barksdale will.be interested to know he has recently landed in Tokyo and is with an anti-aircraft communica tions group. Friends of Ernest Hipp will re- grest to know he is ill arid a patient at the Blalock clinic. Mrs. Irene Todd is visiting her son, Paul Todd, Mrs. Todd and children in Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. C. T. Squires of Greenville, Mrs. B. P. Willis of Culpepper, Va., and Mrs. Fred Pilcher of Peters burg, Va., were guests Friday of their daughter and niece, Mrs. D. S. Sessions. Lt. Paul Martin, of Fort Jackson, has recently completed a course at Fort Benjamin Harrison, III, special service school, and is spending a few days with Mrs. Martin and small son. P. S. Bailey has returned from a business trip to New York. Mrs. William Brehmer of Ki- nards, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Hubert Todd, and family for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Pierce Chandler and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hitt and daughter, Gwen, spent Sunday in Gatlinburg, Tenn. Mrs. Aileen Spoon and son, Fred die, who formerly lived in Wash ington, D. C., and Arlington, Va., are now making their home with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Dees, on North Adair street. Miss Sybil McCoy spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Couch in Atlanta. Lt. John H. Pitts, formerly of Fort Jackson, is spending several weeks with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hen derson Pitts before reporting to Seattle, Wash., for overseas duty. Mrs. Varina Betsill visited her son, Edwin, in Columbia during the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. H. R. McLeod and son, Robert, of McBee, spent the week-end with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Blakely. Mr. and Mrs. Mell D. Eadie have returned to their .home in Daytona Beach, Fla., after spending a short while with her mother, Mrs. R. L. Lockett.
