Meet Tuesday Evening, Record Attendance The first meeting of the new school session for the Florida Street school Parent-Teacher association was held on Tuesday evening with a record attendance of about one hundred and seventy-five. W. R Anderson, superintendent of the city schools, welcomed the par ents and teachers. John S Glover, president, presid-, ed. Reports of the various commit-; tee chairmen were heard, giving' plans for projects and programs for the coming year. A special children's night is being planned for December in addition to the regular meeting. Emphasis was placed on the fact that this year sponsors are grade parents rather than mothers alone, and fathers are' being urged to take a more active part. R. P. Hamer, finance chairman, announced that the PTA carvnival! would be held this year as usual and; will be directed by A. J. Merchant and J. C. Thomas. Those attending adjourned to the class rooms of their children to meet the teachers, and other parents. Lat er a social hour was enjoyed in the school cafeteria with Mrs. I. M. Adair, hospitality chairman, and her committee, Mrs. J. u L. Culp, Mrs. Frank Cauley and Mrs. Lykes Hen derson, serving refreshments. The November program will deal with the new Laurens county school district consolidation plan.
