Built at cost by Joanna Cotton Mills company, but with much of the labor contrbiuted by .members of the church, it has been appraised by, the board of trustees at a value of $15,000. Epworth church for many years was a part of Joanna’s old “union” church, and was served by the pas tor of the old Kinards circuit. With the building of the modern brick sanctuary and educational plant in 1940, the congregation began a pe riod of growth that still continues. Rev. Joe Giles is the first full time pastor of this progressive church, which has a membership at present of 315.
