Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Pearson and children visited their parents in Woodruff Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Claud Abercrombie of Barksdale spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Abercrombie. Virginia returned home with them for a visit. Mrs. Ervin Shockley was in An derson for the week-end visiting Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dawkins. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Carroll and Sandra visited in Abbeville Sun day with Mrs. Samuel Hall, and Mrs. Monroe Graham. Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Birthdays And Anniversaries Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Burkhalter celebrated their second wedding anniversary June 25th. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Abercrombie observed their 24th wedding anni versary June, 24th. Melvin Bailey celebrated his birthday June 22nd. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Bailey, continues ill at the Bailey home at 200 Spruce street. Mrs. Bertie Attaway is ill at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. L. Motte. _ Bible School Closet The Lydia Baptist Vacation Bible! School with all children in thej community invited, was held the week of June 18 through June 22. : There was an enrollment of 152' with an average attendance of 117. Rev. R. D. Gregg, pastor of the church, was principal of the school, with the following department workers: Nursery—Mrs. A. M. Shu mate; Beginners—Mrs. Gregg and Mrs. Connie Davis; Primaries—; Mrs. O. B. Stone, Mrs. Houston El lis, Mrs. R. E. Whitmire and Mrs. Floyd Poole; Juniors—Miss Mary Johnson nad Mrs. E C. Burdette, Intermediates; Mrs. J. B. Aber crombie; Refreshments — Mrs. Clyde Trammell. Mrs. Ferguson, Houston Ellis; Pianist and Song Leader—Mrs. J. B. Abercrombie. Commencement exercises were held Sunday morning, June 24 at 11:00 a.m. On Monday afternoon the school pupils with their parents were in vited to a picnic at Greenwood State Park. A large gathering enjoyed this occasion as a climax to a success ful Bible Scnool. Wmm»'s Club Meets The Woman’s Club met Friday evening in the Community center for the regular monthly meeting. The President, Mrs. E. C. Bur dette, presided over the business Secretary- The President wel comed four new members into the club; Mesdames Charlie Gaffney. Harold Hairston, Ray Boozer and F. L. Thornburg. The roll was called and minutes for the May meeting read by the session. Mrs. Horace Smith pre sented the devotional taken from Mathew 25: 11-30 Plans were made for the club's family picnic to be held at Min eral Springs on July 19th and also for the Fourth of July celebration to be sponsored jointly by the Woman’s Club and Mens’ Club. The Treasurer, Mrs. Horace Smith, gave a report as to the cur rent finances of the club. The program theme for the eve ning was ’Charm” and Mrs. Wal lace introduced Mrs. Littell and Mrs. Young who in turn demon strated Peggy Newton cosmetics. A safety film was shown by Rus sell »Trammell entitled ‘The Land of Paradise." Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. J. C. Meeks and Mrs. C. A. Gwinn.
