Rev. Fred Rowe Resigns
Following the resignation of
Rev. Fred Rowe, Rev. James Smith
of Pickens county has been called
to the pastorate of the Joanna Fire
Baptized church. Rev. Smith will
begin his services Sunday^ There
will be no change in the hours of
service it is announced.

of Christian Service held its May
meeting at the church.

ment of mixed summer flowers,
from which refreshments were
served buffet style to the 30 guests
who enjoyed this occasion.

a Columbia hospital due to a se
rious arm injury received in an au
tomobile accident Saturday night
Mrs. Beulah Stroud is suffering

hospital, which she received in a
fall Sunday.
Mrs. Sara O’Shields underwent
surgery at the local hospital Mon
day.
Mrs. Edna Ballard underwent
surgery at the hospital recently.
Little Jeff Brock is confined to
his home on Milton Road with an
injured knee due to a fall.

Recently members of the W. M.
S. of the Baptist church came to
gether for their May meeting with
a good attendance. The interme
diate girls auxiliary were guests

During the businesss session Mrs.
E. J. Willingham, president, presid
ed. Routine business was discuss
ed and acted upon. ,
Refreshments of ice cream, sand

In Sympathy
The community extends deepest
sympathy to Mrs. Perry Turner
and family in the passing of her
husband. Perry Turner. Funeral
services were held last Friday in

Attention Girl Scouts
All Joanna Girl Scouts are urged
to become registered members by
June 1 if they expect to attend the
summer camp. Plans are being
made at present for this trip.
