Mrs. Louise Dove of Kinards, is being treated at the hospital. Mrs. Gussie Osborne is confined to the local hospital. Mrs. Mary Shealy is ill at her graduate high school in the class of 1941. Honors Mrs. Evans Recently Mrs. Helen Evans was honored on her birthday at her home on the Columbia highway. Twenty-six guests were present. A barbecue chicken supper was serv ed. Mrs. Evans was the recipient each vaccination. This service is offered by the Laurens County Health Department. W.S.C.S. Has April Meeting The April meeting o the Wom an’s Society of Christian Service of Epworth church was held last Tuseday in the assembly room of the church with a goodly number present. The president, Mrs. J. M. Ross, welcomed each member and a new member, Mrs. John Flow. The most important items of the work sheet were presented by Mrs. E. R. Prater. Each officer gave their monthly reports. The coming mis sion study was announced, ‘‘We Seek Him Together.” The program was presented by Mrs. J. L. Abrams, the topic being “Women, Their Work and Health.” She was assisted by Mesdames Mary Simpson and Lavinia Cooley. The Spiritual Life chairman, Mrs. J. J. Abrams, gave the evening prayer. The worship center of the open Bible and burning candles was beneath a poster of three 1 women, housewife, profesional and worker which carried out the lesson theme. The hostesses, Mesdames Hack Prater, J. D. O’Dell and B. W. Ox- ner, served apple pie a la mode with coffee. Baptist Society Meets The Woman’s Missionary Society met Tuesday evening with thirty ladies present including two new hiembers. Mrs. H. L. Gardner gave an in spirational devotion with a quartet, Mrs. Rolfe Clark, Mrs. Louis Mur phy, Mrs. R. G. Carr and Mrs. Otis Murphy, rendering special music. The program, “Yearning Youth,” was under the supervision of Mrs. Harold Murphy. Assisting her were the following ladies with top ics each discussed: Mrs. E. J. Willingham—China. Mrs. James Burnett—Japan. Mrs. Clyde Young—Germany. Mrs. J. O. Hueble—Latin Ameri ca. Mrs. Jeff McCarthy—Nigeria. Mrs. W. Wl Hair—Italy. Miss Ruth Hair—Youth in Souh- ern MBaptist area. Mrs. James Mitchell—Is Youth a Responsibility? The program was closed with a duet by Mrs. Frances Giles and Mrs. Rolfe Clark. Mrs. E. J. Willingham presided during the business session and deles were mad* for the. mission study and divisional meeting. During the social hour a cold plate supper with coffee was serv ed by the hostesses, Mesdames W. P. Thomas, J. M. Rowland, T. M. Boyce, Marian Hamm and Edwin Thomas.
