Birthdays and Anniversaries Terry Crawford was two years old February 24. Mrs. Floyd Emory celebrated her birthday February 27. Mrs. Addie B. Coleman celebrated her birthday February 27. Janet Motte celebrated her birth day February 28. February 22nd was Mrs. Pearl Slu der’s birthday. Sunday Services Announced There will be preaching services at the Presbyterian church Sunday. Sunday school at 10:15 and preaching at 11 o’clock. The public is invited to attend. Shumate-Fennell Rites ! Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Shumate an nounce the marriage of their daugh ter, Iris Mae, to Billy Fennell on Fri day, Feb., 23, at 2 o’clock. The dou ble ring ceremony was performed by Rev. R. D. Gregg in the presence of the family and close friends. The bride was lovely in a spring navy blue suit with white accessor ies. Her corsage was of red rose buds. After a brief wedding trip in the mountains of North Carolina the young couple are at the home of the groom’s parents on Cypress street. Party at Community Center The MYF held a party in the com munity center lounge Saturday. Dur ing the evening games were enjoyed. Refreshments of decorated cup cakes and fruit punch were served. Tele vision was enjoyed during the eve ning.. Party For Little Boy Mrs. John Nelson was hostess to a group of kindergarten children Mon day morning in the kindergarten rooms. The party celebrated the 5th birthday of. her son, James. Mrs. Wallace led in several circle games and after singing the birthday song refreshments of ice cream and cake were served by Mrs. Nel son assisted by Mrs. H. H. Morris. Twenty-three guests were present and enjoyed helping open the gifts. Vari-colored balloons were given as favors. Party For Little Girl Friday morning in the kindergart en rooms Mrs. Charles Humphries honored her little daughter, Char lene, who was six years old, with a childs party. Mrs. Wallace had charge of the singing games, and Mrs. Humphries served ice cream, cakes aryl Easter baskets of candy eggs. Happy birthday to Charlene was sung and twenty-six children were present. Campfire Girls Meet The Aowakiya group of Campfire girls met in the lounge of the com munity center Thursday afternoon. Patsy Fuller, president, presided. The seven crafts were studied and the group selected a home craft for the month of March. A new desire was memorized. Mrs. Wallace and Mrs. Lee Sumerel, guardians, intro duced the craft of knitting as a phase of arts and crafts. Young, Jr., Miss Mary Johnson and Mrs. Wallace had charge of the program for each group. A television party was enjoyed. Club Works on Projects The Hobby club met Monday night in the work rooms of the community center. Two new members were en rolled. The class now has thirty-two members and everyone in the com- muntiy is invited to come, j The class is finishing the project of i glass etching, and beginning a new propect of tooling metals and at pres ent using coopper and aluminum. The finishing of wood will be stud- i ied along with the present project. Combined Choirs Sing Sunday The combined choirs of the Metho- dist and Presbyterian churches will broadcast a program of music Sun- ! day afternoon at 3 o’clock over sta- ! tion WLBG in Laurens.
